Is there a book/website which says 'if you like this name you may also like this one...'?

E.g. If you like the name Rachel, you may also like Rebecca, Helen, Sarah, etc. If you like the name Oliver you may also like George, Thomas, Daniel, etc.

All the name lists I've seen just list alphabetically or by 'traditional', 'modern', etc.

(I'm not actually PG yet, just forward thinking!! )

Yes there is - it's called the Baby Name Wizard by Laura Wattenberg. She also has a website although the website doesn't do the "name families" thing that she does in the book. Only downside is that it's American and therefore some of her descriptions and analysis doesn't translate, but in general it's the best baby name book I've come across.

Also, found www.babynamesworld.com if you then click on the similar names tab it gives a list of other names that you may like

luvaduck · 06/05/2008 19:15

theres a book called cool names for babies that has that sort of idea - grouping names together

Browse by category at the Cradle is good - clicky

www.nymbler.com . You type in up to 6 names and it supplies an almost endless list of other similar names that you may like

firstyme · 08/05/2008 11:35

www.desimuslim.co.uk/

you may find a list of good ones here

oldnewmummy · 08/05/2008 12:55

Just tried nymbler and it suggested "Darren".

I don't think so!

excitedfornumber2 · 09/05/2008 17:34

www.pampers.co.uk/en_GB/babynamemixer.do

you put in the names you like up to 5 and then rate how much you like them it then gives you the names that are similiar.

PortAndLemon · 09/05/2008 17:36

Nymbler is done by the Baby Name Wizard woman so has the disadvantages that dramasequalzero mentions (hence Darren).
