Due second baby and our first girl in a few weeks and we still haven’t decided on her name

Options at the moment are:
Nancy
Stella
Sophia

But I don’t really feel set on any of them, any thoughts/suggestions appreciated

Nancy is lovely. Characterful and interesting. Nice meaning - pure.

Stella isn’t a nice name in my opinion. Lovely meaning but a terrible sound to my ears.

Sophia- well used and a little uninspiring to me as a result, depends if that bothers you.

bridgetreilly · 20/01/2025 21:28

I like Nancy and Stella.

How about:
Ida
Agnes
Kitty
Phoebe
Annie

Snowmanscarf · 20/01/2025 21:28

Nancy - dislike, but i’m an oldie, and associate with Nancy Boy, meaning effeminate or gay (derogatory)

Stella - okay, but beer connection

Sophia - my favourite from your list

I love Nancy, such a beautiful name and delicate without being insipid

I also like Sylvie, Marnie, Nell and Ottilie

sel2223 · 20/01/2025 21:32

I love Sophia - I know it's popular right now but its just so classy and timeless.

Stella sounds really harsh to me. What about Sienna?

Nancy I think is due a comeback. Not my style but I don't dislike it

I love the sweet and frilly yet vintage and sophisticated vibe of Nancy but I’m not keen on the sound.

I really don’t like Stella. It puts me in mind of someone very stern and unapproachable.

I can’t fault Sophia is gorgeous. Delicate yet strong, and I agree with PP it’s timeless

Other suggestions.

Elsie. Sadie. Tess. Olive. Lucy. Rosa. Elise. Martha. Daisy. Poppy. Emily. Molly. Grace. Isobel.

They’re all nice OP, what’s your first child called?

Emanwenym · 21/01/2025 07:08

Of your choices I'd pick Nancy. I like Stella but -ella names are a bit too popular.
Sophia/Sofia is too popular.

Tilly gives the same vibes, or Mabel?

I love Nancy if I was choosing from your list

congratulations on your baby girl 🩷

Tobycarvery11 · 21/01/2025 08:00

I can never get past the beer association with Stella unfortunately, around where I live I can imagine a proper rough family calling their daughter it by the dads choice, because he was stood bedside with a can in his hand at the birth, if you live in a nice area I imagine it's a bit more classy, but it wouldn't work in my town

Sandyview · 21/01/2025 08:52

Some lovely suggestions.
@ThroughThickAndThin01 I love Clara, Marnie & Sadie but DH already veto’d them and Flora and Nora don’t go with our surname unfortunately.

Eliza, Grace, Elise and Ruby have all been on the list at various points but then discounted but I do still like them. Finding it so difficult this time around.

I’ve have recently met little girls called

Laurie (think she was Laurelie but could have been Lauren) but I thought it was such a pretty name but strong too

Effie
Teddie (Theodora)

and I think Amy is due a comeback

Viviennemary · 21/01/2025 12:42

Your three names are all OK. But none are my favourite. I like Violet amd Sylivie.
