Can’t go wrong with Henry.

Really dislike Edwin but really like Edward and Edgar.

Jk987 · 20/01/2025 23:09

Edwin is nice and he's got the option of being called Ed for short.

KayEmAy · 23/01/2025 21:34
  1. Win/Wynn
  2. Henry
  3. Edwin

If that makes sense haha

onlyhereforthechaletschool · 23/01/2025 21:37

I know an Edwin whose nickname is Ted

OopsieeDaisy · 23/01/2025 23:03

Love Henry although agree it is quite commonly used at the moment. Edwin isn’t to my taste but is inoffensive.

SereneCapybara · 23/01/2025 23:07

I like Edwin. And Edward and Edmund. I like Henry too, despite it being quite popular and also the name of the feckless smiley red vacuum that rolls over every time I try to use it and is a useless shape for stairs.

I know an Edwin whose nickname is Ted

Wouldn't he need to be Tedwin to get Ted? Grin

Nellyelephanty · 24/01/2025 13:49

prefer edward

Birmingbacon · 24/01/2025 13:50

To me, Edwin sounds so snivelly and weak! No reason, just don't like it

Go with Henry

Woundupforchristmas · 24/01/2025 13:54

Edwin makes me think of Edwina Currie - sorry.

Henry is an outstanding name.

Raininginparadise2 · 24/01/2025 14:14

Like Henry. Really dislike Edwin/ Edmund and prefer Edward nn Ted.

bluebunnys · 24/01/2025 15:27

I actually don't like either of them

Thank you everyone for the answers. I’m such a novice that I didn’t make a proper poll but I went through all the answers and did a tally:

Henry Yes
17

Edwin Yes
11

Henry big No
4

Edwin big No
10

Alexander first name yes
4

Edward first name yes
4

Hereward yes
1

Wynn yes
1

In summary Henry was the all rounder with more people (17) liking it but simultaneously admitting it’s very popular currently. Only 4 people dislike Henry.

Edwin was more polarising with those who chose it (11) absolutely loving it and others strongly disliking it (10).

Edward was put forward by 4 people as a better option than Edwin, and 4 people also suggested promotion of middle name Alexander to the first name.

Wynn and Hereward are two less known, but beautiful, alternate names that were suggested.

Thanks so much for your thoughts everyone!

Wyn is a better spelling. Wynn is a surname.
I like Winston.
Hereward is a fine name.

Muddypawsies · 03/02/2025 19:55

Another vote for Edwin - what a fab name!
