That to me reads as Jay-Leigh, are we sure it’s pronounced Jelly? Confused

After some Googling, it seems the original “article” was essentially a retelling of a Reddit post. This is what it said:

Yesterday a new student joined the early childcare school my wife works at. She made sure to double check with the parent if there were any nicknames they use or anything to make sure she understood the pronunciation.
This little girl was named Jeilyi, pronounced Jelly.

Tbh I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at that name. I would assume the name may mean something or be popular in another language or culture 🤷🏻‍♀️ now if it was Bakyn-Panyni I would have been beside myself.

Poor child is most likely to shorten their name to Jay when older.
