These are our three front runners at the moment. Which do you prefer?

Sophia and Grace

Alice > Grace > Sophia, but if it was Sophie it would be Alice > Sophie > Grace.

Alice > Grace > Sophia, but if it was Sophie it would be Alice > Sophie > Grace.

This is my opinion too. The first time I heard of a baby Sophia I didn't really like it and it made me think of Sophia Gardens. It hasn't grown on me, and I prefer it as Soph-eye-a.

Nomoredamnmats · 08/01/2025 15:48

Lovely names that suit all ages. However, I would be careful about naming a child Grace if you are a family like mine : endomorphs with short, sturdy legs. She might grow up to be the exception though !
I feel the same about the name Willow.

RuthW · 08/01/2025 15:54

Alice by a mile.

Pallisers · 08/01/2025 15:55

They are all lovely. I prefer Alice.

Sassybooklover · 08/01/2025 16:03

I like all the names. Sophia is a popular name, and you could find more than one in a class at school! Alice and Grace aren't as common names. Out of the three, I prefer Grace.

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2025 16:07

I love Alice and Sophia.

I strongly dislike Grace.

TangerineClementine · 08/01/2025 16:11

Sophia is my favourite, then Alice.

TheaBrandt · 08/01/2025 16:20

They are ok but admit as the mother of older teen girls I am bored of them I know sooooo many girls with those names they are run of the mill now sorry. Can you not think of others? Miranda / Susannah / Kate /Serena all really nice and underused.

Every Grace my dds knows has been dreadful and the direct opposite of graceful !

SJay401 · 08/01/2025 23:11

I would ignore the overused comments and pick what you like most. There are more popular names and people choose from a wider pool now.

Personally i’d pick Sophia, it’s a beautiful name. Second Alice and third Grace but really not a fan of Grace

pippapipps · 08/01/2025 23:39

Grace is elegant and beautiful

Firsttimebabymummy · 09/01/2025 08:39

Grace (I love this name)
Alice
Sophia

What do you mean by 'wet'?

It's just a wet name to me. Same as Emily, Amelia. Just wet and no substance.

Fontainebleau007 · 09/01/2025 11:36

Grace

I personally cannot stand the name Sophia.

TheaBrandt · 09/01/2025 11:45

Grace is a lot to live up to. You need to be an Audrey Hepburn type otherwise it’s quite cruel.

Yes sorry also concur they are wet unimaginative names.

LaVitesse2022 · 09/01/2025 12:00

All classic and timeless names. I love Sophia/Sophie.

Ignore the comments about overuse OP - people keep coming back to them for a reason.

HugoYorway · 09/01/2025 14:23

@TheaBrandt , Don't you mean a Grace Kelly type? Smile

@LaVitesse2022 , they are, but Sophia would have been 'posh' when I was a baby, Sophie new and fresh, Alice dated but Alison popular, Grace terribly dated.

People pick them because they are the current trend in baby names. 20 years ago, the list might have been Chloe, Olivia or Grace.

LaVitesse2022 · 09/01/2025 14:36

@HugoYorway my point is that these names have been around for decades, centuries even, sometimes a bit less or a bit more popular, but around. They're not trendy in the sense that they've suddenly became popular out of nowhere and in a few years' time will disappear and become cringy.

HugoYorway · 09/01/2025 14:48

I agree, which is why Darcey got missed off my 20 yrs ago list, Smile

Normallynumb · 09/01/2025 14:53

Alice. " My" girls name but I had 3 sons

CruCru · 10/01/2025 20:21

Alice, then Sophia then Grace.

Nollybolly6 · 10/01/2025 20:22

Alice!

BCBird · 10/01/2025 20:24

Grace my preference, but they all lovely.

MumziePie1415 · 11/01/2025 01:36

I think personally you have to go for a unique name nowadays. No one wants to sound common. All children need unique names (We named ours after famous people in literature) Mine are named: Philip, Edward (Or Teddy as we love to call him), Sylvia-Louise and Virginia. You find Alice, Sophie and Grace's everywhere you go.
