I voted Lyra, but also love or like all the rest.

Pigsinblankets13 · 07/01/2025 11:19

Lyra by a country mile

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/01/2025 11:53

Lyra or penelope

Sunnyflow · 07/01/2025 11:55

I prefer Penelope

But why don't you choose the name YOU love most? Why ask a bunch of strangers with different tastes than yours Confused??

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/01/2025 12:13

All are lovely names, my top two are Lyra and Penelope. Lyra is short, simple, pretty. Penelope has lovely nn options of Penny / Nell / Poppy / Polly. Sophie is also really nice but a bit overused round here.

BarbaraHoward · 07/01/2025 12:54

They're all really nice. I have two little girls and we know about a million Sophies so that would put me off, even though the name itself is lovely.

If you're based somewhere where Orla will be pronounced Awla that would also put me off. But again, a lovely name.

hideawayforever · 07/01/2025 12:55

Sophie or Penelope

ymemanresu · 07/01/2025 12:57

Sophie, Leela is nice as an alternate

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/01/2025 13:30

Like them all. Voted for Penelope. Lyra is lovely but seems more trendy. Sophie is gorgeous but so popular. Orla is nice but my least preferred from your list.

Lucyaugust2007 · 07/01/2025 13:43

I voted Sophie, although I like Orla and Penelope too.

Snowmanscarf · 07/01/2025 13:44

Penelope or Sophie. Not keen on the other two.

sel2223 · 07/01/2025 14:35

All I see with Lyra is Lycra so it's not for me.

I prefer timeless classics like Sophie and Penelope.

FondantFancyAnyone · 07/01/2025 14:37

I'd be happy to use Sophie apart from there being so many Sophia/Sofias
Penny - know a few nice ones
Orla is a bit nothingy - Awla.
I don't like Lyra, but Laura is nice.

Acc0untant · 07/01/2025 14:38

I love Orla. Used to like Lyra but someone pointed out it was one letter from lycra and now that's all I see.

GetyourheadoutoftheovenIris · 07/01/2025 14:39

Penelope or Orla

Shiresunshine · 07/01/2025 14:39

Orla or Penelope are beautiful!

The other two wouldn’t be contenders for me, sorry!

SkaneTos · 07/01/2025 21:59

They are all good names!

I voted for Lyra.

TheMasterplan23 · 07/01/2025 22:01

Like pp above…..I see Lyra and think Lycra.

I love Orla.

RuthW · 07/01/2025 22:06

Penelope shorted to Nel

RenaissanceBaby · 07/01/2025 22:30

Orla always gets a slating on here for its pronunciation with a standard English accent. ANY baby name thread involving Orla is the same. Someone always mentions “rhotic” and “Awla”. It’s tedious (and I’m Scottish so I have no idea why I get so irrationally irritated!). It’s a nice name however you say it.

Pick what you love OP. Sophie is probably overused but the rest are all fab.

FondantFancyAnyone · 07/01/2025 23:15

@RenaissanceBaby , because it's a nice name if you say it with a rhotic accent, but not otherwise. I feel the same about Clare.
