Now this is my all time fave girls name but dh was against it last two pregnancies so ended up with a Charlotte and a Molly. He thinks Tabitha is a cats name.

He is starting to come round as he knows how much I love it (I think he could be bribed! )

He really wants Lucy though. I would just like some thoughts from other people. Don't worry if you hate it, thats fine, I love it so much I don't care but am just interested in other peoples reactions

even

belgo · 03/05/2008 12:50

It's growing on me. Go for it, far more interesting then Lucy. (Lucy is also pretty).

norkmaiden · 03/05/2008 12:50

Lovely name. The cat thing wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I think its fab

And I disagree about Lucy btw - all the Lucy's I know are smart and feisty

dinny · 03/05/2008 12:54

my dd's family nickname is totally different and based on her middle name

we call her Tabitha or her nickname, gets Tabby at school - I like Tabby, sort of arty name

dinny · 03/05/2008 12:54

yes, was going to say - definitely NOT simpering and VERY feisty

Indith · 03/05/2008 12:56

Tabitha is great So are Charlotte and Molly. I'd love a Molly or a Tabitha.

oooh, hope it doesn't get too popular

berolina · 03/05/2008 13:01

I like it.

There is a Tabea and a Thaddea (pron Tad-eh-a) at ds1's kindergarten. Not the same name but similar sounding - maybe you like those too.

berolina · 03/05/2008 13:02

I think Lucy is a fab name btw.

Its a lovely name and I wish I hadn't been talked out of it!!

moopymoo · 03/05/2008 13:22

I think of it as a cat's name.

Eleta · 03/05/2008 13:55

Thanks CurleyShirley, it's good to hear from someone who has used it.

I don't have a problem with the Bewitched thing either as I used to like that programee

I just feel a little guilty as if I do get my way, I will know dh is not that keen, but just doing it for me. Can I name my child a name that wouldn't be his choice?

Will definitely get shortened to Tabby which definitely is a cats name : Tabitha Twitchett!

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 03/05/2008 16:57

I don't like this at all. It's not just the cat's name thing, because I like Sadie and Polly which some people would tell me were dogs' names....

And I like Thea and Martha, so I like the 'th' sound.

I am over-analysing it, but I just don't like Tabitha. WHAT do you plan to shorten it to? Tabby??

I like Felix, which is feline, but Tabby is grubby rather than feline iyswim.

Tabby is most def not grubby!!! My dd2 is called Tabitha and we get endless comments on what a beautiful name it is. Never had a negative response apart from my mil who has disliked all the names we have chosen for our children!

I picked it because it is pretty and unusual but not too far-out. It suits my gorgeous toddler perfectly.

bunny3 · 03/05/2008 17:05

ps have heard letchy blokes leeringly referring to "juicy Lucy" before, yuk.
