Rebel and Rogue

Name changed for this as I don't want to be identified.

My cousin is pregnant and has just discovered she is having twin girls. All lovely. But she has announced their names are going to be Rebel and Rogue. And I am absolutely horrified. Sounds dramatic but especially the name Rogue which for me is someone who regularly breaks the law. I feel sorry for whichever baby is going to be landed with this name and who will possibly be ridiculed at school.

Am I in the wrong for having such a visceral reaction to this? I want to say something diplomatic about this but how?

Agree with a previous poster, this thread is liable to get picked up by some shite, lazy journo and appear on a blog on the Daily Fail website or something. I would ask Mumsnet to delete before your cousin sees it.

They're not my style at all but I think they could be cool on the right person - the problem is what if her children don't grow up to be that kind of person? What if they are quiet, studious, conformist children who sincerely wish they were called something like Jenny and Louise? I'd personally keep these names as nicknames (in the true sense, not short for something) or use them for pets.

It wasn’t her real name though, it was a family nickname , some really strange names around these days but agree with many others, those rank amongst the worst I’ve heard
