We have number 2 on the way! What are people's views on the name Camille NN Cami? We are after something elegant but not too frilly and something that will carry them well from childhood to adulthood. How do you imagine someone with the name Camille? Thank you all in advance!

Not sure of pronunciation but my first thought was was that Kamil is a boys’ name. And that would be how I would spell the name if someone said their name was Cam-Mill or Cam-Meal or even Car-meal

I think they’d spend their lifetime having it spelt or pronounced wrongly.

I love it, but please pronounce it the French (and proper) way - Cam-ee (with soft almost inaudible ya at the end!)

I'd be thinking of the violent murder of poor Camille in the novel by Emil Zola. 😢
I read it as a teen and found it both enthralling and horrifying. 😂

I've loved it since I met a French Camille. I'm not keen on Camilla. Love Milly as a nn, or Cam is OK.

Cami sounds a lot like Kemi (Badenoch). Depends how you feel about people perhaps assuming you’ve named the baby after the leader of the Opposition, or wherever her future career takes her after the next election.

We are not French but we love the country 😍 and often visit. I presume most of my English friends and family would say ca-meel.
DH not a fan of Camilla but likes Camille.

I think she'll just be called Cam-mill in that case.
My DC are half French and speak French but we avoided this name as we knew barely anyone would pronounce it properly here.

Love Camille and Camilla (prefer Camille)

Loath Cammie. Or indeed anything with a twee and childish ‘ie’ on the end.

I know one! She's very petite, very pretty and very good at her job!
