Hi, having twin boys and struggling with names.. we are thinking of Luca and Nico as feel they "fit" together.

Any other suggestions or opinions on these names? Thank you!

I like both, but odd if you aren't Italian?
I would use Lucas and Nicholas, you can nn to luca and nico if you like, and they have the option of Luke and Nick if they prefer the English names.

This is a good idea

Iamthemoom · 24/11/2024 19:04

Lovely names. They go together perfectly.

Aglassaday · 24/11/2024 19:40

Both names that aren’t my personal taste but they hit that twin name sweet spot of not too matchy but not too dissimilar which actually makes me love the names😍

IsThePopeCatholic · 24/11/2024 19:42

Great if you’re Italian. Weird if you’re not.

Luca and Leo?

Maraudingmarauders · 24/11/2024 21:03

Ours son's middle name is Nicolò if you want an Italian name? Similar to Nico in style, and you could use Nico as a nickname if you wanted to.

I think Luca and Nico are both just similar enough and just different enough, if that makes any sense. Good combination.

I agree with this. Presume there’s some sort of southern European background, OP? If not, I think I’d avoid the pairing, or use them as nicknames for Luke and Nicholas.

Joolsin · 24/11/2024 21:17

Great combination and both individually nice names too.

TheBigSalami · 24/11/2024 21:19

Lovely names. Are you Italian? Bit weird if not.

We have Italian friends with a Luca, also a Gioele which is another great Italian name.

lottiegarbanzo · 24/11/2024 21:54

If you're not so set on Nico and not set on Italian names, how about Ivan (Ivo) or Otto? Maybe Hugo, or Felix?

If Italian is important I like Matteo.

HahaBooHiss · 24/11/2024 22:45

I love it, but I might be biased as I personally know of a set of twins with the same names! They’re lovely and flow so nicely. I also know of two brothers with the same names, but I’m not sure if they are twins or just close in age.

Other siblings I know (for an alternative to Nico)
Luca & Enzo
Luca & Marco
Luca & Ezra
Luca & Cole
Luca & Leo

(yes I know of a lot of Luca’s😅)

NameHelp2020 · 24/11/2024 23:55

Sorry but personally I don’t like Nico as a name - it’s too much of a nick name and I think should be short for Nicolas or Niccolo (guessing you’re Italian)?

Only like this if you're Italian.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 25/11/2024 13:54

I like both these names and agree they sound great together (and I know how hard it is to find that perfect but non-matchy combo, I've got twin boys myself!)

I know a little Luca and a Nico, neither with Italian heritage. BUT I agree with pp that together they give a strong Italian vibe which might be a bit surprising if you can't claim that heritage for them.

Haha posted too soon! Any alternative suggestions for Nico??

Nico is the best name! I'd keep it!

Potentiallyplausible · 25/11/2024 18:32

You can’t use the pair unless you’re Italian. It’s weird.

itcamewiththeframe · 25/11/2024 20:25

Lovely names OP. Go with your gut.

Congrats on your twins.

Honeytye · 26/11/2024 22:28

Nate, Cass, Finn, Quinn

Crispynoodle · 26/11/2024 23:29

Luca and Jaco

Snaccidental · 04/12/2024 23:32

I grew up with a pair of brothers (not Italian) called Luca and Nico so I agree it fits perfectly :D I have said those names in combination a thousand times in my life. Go for it!

theduchessofspork · 04/12/2024 23:43

I love Nico
Luca is having a massive wave of popularity at the moment though - if that bothers you.. Arturo nn Ari would go with Nico as an alternative

InTheWindow · 06/12/2024 00:40

I don’t dislike the names but to me there is an association with really nasty father and son gangster criminals called Luca and Nico in one of Robert Galbraith (J K Rowlings) Strike detective novels. The fifth one ‘Troubled Blood’.

caringcarer · 06/12/2024 03:06

I like both of those names. They do fit together well.
