Sibling for Violet.

had a shortlist we were happy with but now unsure

Sophie
Alice
Juliet

I think the et for Juliet and Violet is too much. I’ve been put off the other two after hearing some people discuss them and they seem to be super popular in our area ‘no not that Sophie, Sophie you know the one who lives in X no not the one who lives in Y etc’

I am at a bit of a loss now. We can’t do

  • any names ending in -y sound due to surname (so Emily Natalie etc)
  • Charlotte Isabelle Eva Lily Rose Elizabeth Emma Anna as these are cousins names
  • any names with same initial or any plant names/nature names due to using Violet already as I think it would be a bit much

help!

I'd also suggest

Another favourite in Alice!
I don't like Juliet, it feels like a lot of name for a small baby and I can see where you're coming from with Sophie!
Violet and Clara

Violet and Nina
Violet and Zara
Violet and Bella (unless Isobelle gets shortened to Bella?)
Violet and Tessa

They all sound 'right' with Violet.

Suggestions:

Ella
Laura
Amelia
Freya

Erin
Cora
Genevieve

Notthebeard · 21/11/2024 13:02

Love Alice and think it sounds lovely with Violet.

I know you said no nature names but Hazel was the first name to spring to mind to pair with Violet! It’s not a colour or a flower so not too samey?

What about Tatiana, Anastasia, Celeste, Estelle or Cassia?

Rosybud88 · 21/11/2024 13:05

I’d pair an equally strong name with Violet - another poster has suggested Delilah which I think is fantastic.

Violet and Delilah - the name holds it own.

Julia or Olivia instead of Juliet?
I like Sophie and Alice. Alice seems the obvious choice.

I'd avoid something like Delilah because I don't like it they'l lbe Vila and Lila.

CalliopePlantain · 21/11/2024 14:14

PP’s suggestion of Hazel is perfect! Two strong feminine names that flow well together without being matchy matchy.

Flora
Madelena
Rebecca
Laura
Freya
Delphine

KirstenBlest · 21/11/2024 14:15

How about Alicia to make it a bit different?
