I'm expecting a baby girl and we're struggling to think of names. So far we've come up with Thea or Bethany. We're not discussing name ideas with friends or family so thought I'd ask for some anonymous opinions on here, or any suggestions for similar names are welcome. Thanks ❤️

Thea and Bethany are both lovely. I’ve always had a soft spot for Beth - it’s a lovely, simple classic, and I’m surprised it’s so underused at the moment, so Bethany nn Beth would be my choice.

Both of these are simple and lovely classics. I wondered about Martha, but I'm not sure it has quite the same charm. Tessa?

Prawncocktail24 · 25/09/2024 19:54

Thanks for all the suggestions! I did suggest some of the names above to DH (Eleanor, Martha and Esther) but he vetoed them. Some, we've ruled out because they're family names, or don't go with our surname - such as Caitlin, Tessa, Heather and Amber.

I think we're swaying more towards Thea. But I can't decide if Bethany works as a middle name for Thea...

I actually love both of those. Also Bethan, Eloise/Elodie

StressedQueen · 25/09/2024 19:55

Thea is so so so pretty, I love it. Not a huge fan on Bethany to be honest. Thea Bethany doesn't sound bad to me at all but I think a different name might work better

Firsttimebabymummy · 25/09/2024 19:56

Thea Bethany sounds fine

Nobody ever really says the middle name anyway.

VoteLabour · 25/09/2024 20:18

I don't like Thea or Bethany. Thea seems too much like the overused Theo and Bethany seems dated. Athena, Anthea, Xanthe, Elizabeth or Dorothy might be ones you could consider,

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/09/2024 21:56

I really like Thea Bethany 🥰

Mumofgirls2017 · 26/09/2024 16:59

Like Thea, Bethany is a bit dated. How about

Thea and Bethany are both lovely names.

And I think Thea Bethany Lastname sounds good!
