Flower names

I have fallen into flower names for my girls and have a Rose, a Daisy and a Poppy, pregnant again and feel I have to continue the theme but have kind of run out. Any suggestions? Not a fan of Iris or Hycinth.

Rowan is nice for a boy. Lily is lovely. Marigold?

merryhouse · 14/09/2024 11:56

Given the cultural style of the three you have already, I'd say Lily, Violet or possibly Jasmine.

Ideas for a boy: Lupin (bit too Potterish?), Aloe, Flax, Indigo, Rowan, Aster, Oleander, Calyx, Florian, Campion, Heath, Yarrow. Bit of a mix there.

Jasmine or Lily are the obvious 2 options if you want another popular (Top100) name - it might be nice for all the girls to more easily get stuff with their names on. My preference would probably be for Jasmine of the two (so you don’t have another “ee” ending) but it is far less popular than pretty Lily.

Or you could consider Willow and just have the nature link? May is also a flower name and although not Top 100, it feels like it should be since every other girl has it for a middle name.I probably wouldn’t go to obscure a flower/tree with Rose, Daisy and Poppy since they are all well known/used.

Tansy

Jessbow · 15/09/2024 08:57

Melissa
Briony
Rose/Rosie

I think it would be tough being called Lily because ''i'm the 4th and mum couldnt think of anything more exciting'''. So many girls called lily!

Loooooo · 15/09/2024 09:04

I think that you should avoid another Y/ie name like poppy and daisy so would opt for Jasmine

user1492757084 · 15/09/2024 10:13

Aster, Erica, Zinnia, Jasmine.

I would vary the ending and not have another ee sounding ending like Poppy and Daisy..

For a boy .. Rowan, Larkspur, Linden, Reed.

I would avoid another y or ie ending and I think Lily is very predictable. I think if you are not set on flower names then a classic short pretty girls name would fit such as Alice or names from the late Victorian era because Rose and Daisy were popular at that time.

MrFlippersPancake · 20/09/2024 20:59
