Is this boys name suitable for an adult?

Milo - what are your thoughts? I love the name but really worry about an adult Milo. We can’t use Miles because it doesn’t work with our surname. Although I do think Milo could use Miles as a nn should this be something he would prefer when he’s older.

Also already aware of the milk drink and dog connections to the name, this does not put us off. I know 5 dogs called Charlie and I still think it’s a fine name for a human!

I know of at least three adult Milo's and it's a lovely name.

I agree the milk thing is no big deal, nor the dog thing (it’s not like you are calling him Fido! Or even Rollo, Digby, Rex etc). I also think Milo has a nicer sound personally than Miles anyway.

While Milo is not exactly my cup of tea (bit trendy sounding for me) it’s perfectly fine for an adult as well as a child. He’ll fit right in with all the Leo’s, Theo’s and Arlo’s.

It doesn’t even have the cutesy “ee” ending sound - but the fact that its a more popular name now means there’s bound to be plenty of other adult Milo’s about in future.

I like it. It is the name of Boris Johnson's oldest son, an adult, not that it matters.

I think it's entirely appropriate and a fine name to use. You could always give him a middle name that is more traditional to use if he chose to.

I know many young Milos. They’ll grow up to be adult Milos, so yes. It’s no different to all the Arlos, Theos, Leos etc.

I love it!

I like the name.
There is a character in a series of crime novels (he's a detective) called Milo. If he was a real person he would be in his 70s now. So definitely a name that's fine for adults.
There's also that actor Milo Venta-something. He's probably in his late 30s (I just checked Google.... he's actually 47 !)

Edited

Milo Venetemiglia 🤣 I saw his age the other day and was shocked too 😂

BibbityBobbityToo · 08/09/2024 00:24

No, sorry it's a good name for a dog though 😳

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 10/09/2024 09:31

I think it's a name that is currently quite popular for children, and therefore in a few years' time it will be popular for adults and nobody will think it sounds strange for an adult. For what it's worth, I quite like it as a name.

Yes, me too. Plus, for Irish people, the insanely talented Milo O’Shea. (For non-Irish people, as well as winning Tonys for stage work, he was the mad scientist Durand Durand in Barbarella who inspired the name of Duran Duran, and Frusr Laurence in Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet.)

Definitely an adult name. Plus, eyebrows!

boysmuminherts · 10/09/2024 09:49

I really like it. Goes with all the boys names I am a fan of.

sel2223 · 10/09/2024 13:42

Literally any name can work as a child and an adult.
By the time this generation get to that age 'adult' names will be completely different to what they are now

theduchessofspork · 11/09/2024 12:37

It's fine.

DramaAlpaca · 11/09/2024 13:22

I've just met a Milo, he's a very cute small dog.

But yes, Milo would be fine on an adult. Lots of similar names around just now, they'll all be adults before long.
