Struggling to find a middle name

Bucksfar86 · 04/09/2024 11:37

Due to have another little girl in January.
We already have a Harriet Ella .
My wanted to tribute my grandmothers, who were called Elsie and Eleanor but we didn't like either for Harriet's middle name so we came up with Ella as a token for them both.

We quite like the names;
Maisie
Zara
Olivia
Freya
All as a first name but really struggling with what names we like as middle names, to go with any of them.

Any ideas and suggestion are greatly welcomed!

TIA

If Harriet is somewhat named after your grandmother's could your partners grandmother's name. Inspire something?

Spenditlikebeckham · 04/09/2024 12:44

If this is your last dc could you use a female version of your dgfs name /s? We have Francis /es in our family.

Zara Olivia

Why do you want/need a middle name? I don't have one and haven't missed it at all. I only see the point of a middle name if it is named after someone

EoinMahoney · 05/09/2024 08:49

@Itsjustmeheretoday , OP already has a daughter called Harriet Ella.

I don't really see the point of middle names either, especially if it's something like Rose, Grace or May.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 05/09/2024 09:07

I don't have a middle name. I don't really see the point if you're just choosing one because you feel you have to and can't actually find one you like.

But if you want to give her one (which I can understand, since your eldest has one) then just pick your two favourites of the four first names you've picked and use those as first and middle. Why try and find something else when you have four names you like? They don't need to "go" as they're hardly even spoken.

I like Zara Maisie! Two lovely names, flow well, one more grown up and with a bit of flair to it and one more sweet and light.

Mandarinaduck · 06/09/2024 15:03

What about looking in your family again for inspiration. Grandparents, great grandparents, or maybe combine elements of your and your DH’s names?

Normallynumb · 06/09/2024 15:12

I would use Alice with every name
Even with the vowel being the end letter
Maisie Alice
Zara Alice
Freya Alice
etc
Alice was " my" girl name but I had boys!

Katherineryan1986 · 06/09/2024 15:13

A female version of the baby's grandfather's name(s) ?

Or your first name as her middle name (that's what my parents did).

EoinMahoney · 06/09/2024 15:30

Your mother's name.

Velvetbee · 06/09/2024 15:41

Zara Olivia

ineedtogwtoutbeforeitatoohot · 06/09/2024 15:49

Freya may

spiderlight · 06/09/2024 15:56

If I'd ever had a girl, she was going to be Freya Rhiannon.

JC03745 · 06/09/2024 16:01

Could you use either of your grandmothers middle names? or someone from the fathers side?
