Baby due in a few weeks. Not finding out gender, most certain it’s a boy, but need a girls names just incase! We have picked Nathaniel for a boy. Already have a DS Miles.

We like Charlotte NN Lottie, I just worry it’s too popular?
I like Amelie and Isobel, DH not keen 😞. He likes Martha, but I find it boring.

Any other suggestions? We like timeless classics, nothing too out there…

I love it - strangely I have never had a relative, friend , classmate, colleague, neighbour with this name or friend name their child with this name so I say go for it - timeless beautiful classic

If anything I'd say Isobel (and its various spelling permutations) and Amelie are more popular now? They're certainly more obviously 'of their era'. Charlotte is beautiful and a classic, it probably seems more popular as you'll come across people of all ages with the name. I have to say though that Lottie seems to be a very underused nn - most Charlottes I know go by Char/Charl/Charlie or the full name. Think I only know one Lottie - she's late 20s.

Other ideas:

Catherine/Katherine - nn Kate/Katie
Matilda - nn Tilly/Matty
Francesca - nn Frankie/Cesca
Alice
Alexandra - nn Lexie/Alex/Allie
Cecilia - nn Cece
Margaret (not a huge fan but better than Martha?) - nn Maggie
Georgia or Georgina - nn Georgie
Adelaide or Adeline - nn Addie
Gabriella - nn Gaby/Ellie
Madeleine (if you can get past the McCann connection it's a gorgeous name!) - nn Maddie
Amelia (much prefer this to Amelie personally) - nn Mia/Milly
