Here are the contenders.

  • Abraham
  • Elijah
  • Josiah
  • Michael
  • Moses
  • Nicodemus
  • Rufus
  • Seth
  • Zachariah
  • Eli
  • Micah

It has to be a bible name.

What do you think?

Seth, what about Saul?

Beeper · 16/04/2008 22:16

Brown you are right there...but we are not getting anywhere and I am 38/39 wks.

I suppose that Josiah (God heals) would be the most important to me as this baby is my fifth pregancy and I only have one other DS. I thought I would never have another baby as there is a 9 year gap and Ive lost two inbetween. (ectopic and M/C) and it took me 6 years to get preg with the m/c. I gave up after that then got shocked with this one.

Well, there you go Josiah is the perfect name then!

And to those that give Saul....whilest I like the name in the way it sounds...tis not a nice biblical character if I remember correctly!

cath81 · 16/04/2008 22:19

my friend has an elijah- he is a handful but a lovely boy and the name suits him.

ButterflyMcQueen · 16/04/2008 22:19

Saul of Tarsus

girlfrommars · 16/04/2008 22:22

I like Rufus too.

I love Caleb.

BrownSuga · 16/04/2008 22:25

Josiah - Healed by God, supported by God.
Nathan - Given by God
Matthias (instead of Mathew) - Gift of God

3andnomore · 16/04/2008 22:38

oh, now I love the name Mathias...but then my nephew is called it and it is the german way of Mathew....

Woollymummy · 16/04/2008 22:42

Seth! Definitely, he is a very cool folk musician at the moment, hot stuff playing the fiddle. Definitely a good name.

shreddies · 16/04/2008 22:46

Seth is lovely.

gagarin · 16/04/2008 22:46

Abraham! Then he can be "baby Abie"...

Actually I prefer the hebrew versions of Abraham - Avraham or Avram...

scaryteacher · 17/04/2008 01:33

My ds is a Joel, it can't be shortened and is quite funky.

purpleduck · 17/04/2008 01:43

Love
Elijah Seth Issac (i know, not on list)

purpleduck · 17/04/2008 01:44

and Josiah

Niecie · 17/04/2008 01:56

My favourites are Seth and Josiah (Jos). I quite like Elijah too.

How about Jed (Jedediah)?

DS1 is Christian which is as about as Christian as it gets iyswim but it is a bit obvious I suppose!

Since you seem to be going a bit old testament with most of them(apologies if my knowledge of the bible is a bit shaky) how about Adam, which is DS2's middle name?

Seth or Zach, both lovely.

MrsMattie · 17/04/2008 07:23

I like Elijah, but I'm biased

BubbaAndBump · 17/04/2008 07:26

We had Seth at the top of our boy's list for months (but had a baby girl in the end anyway).

surprise · 19/04/2008 23:11

Rufus or Michael. Why does it have to be biblical?

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 23:14

I like Seth the best. My dh vetoed it saying is sounded like cess (as it cess pit). Heathen

1dilemma · 19/04/2008 23:30

Matthew (gift of God)
what about Benjamin wasn't he the youngest and unexpected son?

JessJess3908 · 23/04/2008 00:08

I am thinking of Jacob for our DC1 due in September. His 2 nearest cousins are Seth and Eli, so my mum and dad keep telling me they'll sound like the 3 wise men.

Seth is a fabulous name - my sister got in there first and now I am feeling the pressure to come up with an equally lovely but not too popular name.
