I knew twins called Joy and Jay

seeker · 17/04/2008 07:59

Lots of girls in Catholic countries are called Mary or Maria-something. and use the second name. So technically you could have a family of 6 girls all called Mary!

hugsformummy · 17/04/2008 08:07

i knew a timothy and a tomathy twin set!

Alderney · 17/04/2008 08:46

My SFIL has 2 lots of twins - Paul and Paul and Marino and Miranda

Not the brightest parents but the family members I've met have all been lovely...

George Foreman has six sons called: George Jr., George III, George IV, George V, and George VI, and George Travis Walls.

and a daughter called "Georgetta"

edam · 17/04/2008 08:57

ROFL at George III etc - does he think he's a long lost relative of the Queen or something? Daft bugger.

throckenholt · 17/04/2008 09:02

I read a book recently by a woman from the Outer Hebrides where the tradition is to name after family members - she had 3 brothers called Donald - something like Donald John, Donald Alexander and just plain Donald (I guess at number 3 they ran out of relatives to name him after !).

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 17/04/2008 09:35

George foreman named all his kids george because he figured that with his past it was likely that he would get dementia and forget their names otherwise. quite clever really.

shelleylou · 17/04/2008 11:06

ye that is my brothers name was just with someone saying about the first four letters being the same

sparkybabe · 17/04/2008 11:11

A woman in my antenatal group had a girl, called it samantha. Her ds was called samuel.

eidsvold · 17/04/2008 11:18

i knew a family - Dad was Peter Peters - no biggy, he married a woman called Peta Peters and when their son was born - you guessed it - they named him Peter Peters too.

suwoo · 17/04/2008 11:27

nappyaddict · 17/04/2008 12:42

branflake81 · 17/04/2008 14:07

Not the same but I know a married couple called Peter and Greta - it always makes me laugh, they sound like they should be in a children's story.

AHLH · 17/04/2008 14:12

cyteen Isn't it Muslim tradition that all boys are called Mohammed though?

CoteDAzur · 17/04/2008 14:14

Of course that is not a Muslim tradition

Sazisi · 17/04/2008 14:14

I never knew their dad's name, but I could make a guess

CoteDAzur · 17/04/2008 14:16

lottiejenkins · 17/04/2008 14:17

Have posted on here before... my mum met a lady once with 3 sons called Dirk Dean and Darren!!!

stripeymama · 17/04/2008 14:20

To be followed by NextBoy and TooManyBoys, we wondered?

CoteDAzur · 17/04/2008 14:27

hatrick - Turkish English
Özlem and Özcan's parents must be very courageous.

Anglophones never correctly pronounce that first letter (it is not pronounced as "O"), nor any Turkish word that has 'c' in it. That last syllable -can is pronounced as "john".

Expat Turks I know tend to name their kids with simple names that don't have any Turkish-specific letters like ö, ç, ş, ü, etc.

nappyaddict · 17/04/2008 14:56

isn't ç just pronounced ch?

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 17/04/2008 15:07

Yes. Most expats avoid ç as well when naming their kids because the letter doesn't exist on qwerty keyboard and will get written as c and then pronounced as k.

Scotia · 17/04/2008 19:09

I know a Leanne, with twin brothers called Lee and Liam.
