At the stage now where we probably should have a few names in our pocket and while if it’s a girl we’re totally sorted with an abundance of beautiful names, if it’s a boy we’re totally screwed.

so any suggestions appreciated.

We ideally want something Scandinavian due to family roots although it will be growing up in London.

Current only potential is Magnus, although I much prefer the Swedish pronunciation it will never get used here.

Names that I like that have either been vetoed by unhelpful husband or can’t use for other reasons.

  • Albin
  • Felix (my fave)
  • Jonas
  • Fredrik
  • Rafe
  • Henry (on the maybe list)

My Danish friend has called her sons Lukas, Bruno & Alexander. They also live in London and have a very international social network.

What about Henrik as a mix of Henry and Fredrik?

Lars

Lars and Anders would probably be on my maybe list, I can’t quite articulate why I don’t love them. Otto is very cute but not sure it will pass the husband test.

Unfortunately anything that starts with Joe sound is out. Oh and Henrik, he’s in the family already!

If it makes you feel any better DS1 was known by his bump name for a week and DS2 was only finalised from a shortlist of 2 on the way to the registrar. Had names for a potential DD but boys names so much harder

UrsulaBelle · 16/08/2024 23:13

My friend’s two grandsons are Bjørn and Aksel, living in the UK.

Nikolai? Probably a PITA as a full name but you could call him Nico day to day.

One of my sons' names is on your list and we liked Magnus as well. Had a look at our other options for you:

Bruno
Leif
Conrad
Bram

The others were probably too vintage or Welsh for you.

MissyB1 · 17/08/2024 07:47
