Choosing a name

I’m currently 35wks/3days pregnant and choosing a name for our second is hard!
Our first daughter is Freya but choosing a name for this little one we cant decide which one we like Esmée or Ava?
my husband said if we go for Ava, to use Esmee as middle name but doesn’t really sound right!

I don't think you can go wrong, they're both lovely names! Only thing is maybe Freya and Ava sound VERY tenuously similar (only with the two "a" sounding vowels in both syllables... if that makes sense?! Maybe it's just me 😂

Ava sounds too similar to Freya. Imagine calling up the stairs, they will both think you’re calling them. Eva might be better.

i like Esme (that spelling) and think it goes with Freya nicely. Or Amelie has a similar vibe.

Voted Ava as likely having a very popular name is still easier than having to correct spelling and pronunciation all the time. I actually love both Ava and Esme (and probably a lot of people do too hence their popularity), but would only use the most commonplace Esme spelling personally - so at least I didn’t have to correct spelling as well as pronunciation (the accent is probably neither here nor there, as many phones/computers won’t add it - but by all means do use it on the BC if you want to be correct).

You’d/she’d then just have to accept that like Helena, Evelyn, Maya etc there is more than one accepted pronunciation of Esme but that your daughters is “Ez- May” (the nicest pronunciation imo). Esmae or Esmee just look wrong to me personally and will likely just make life harder.
