  2. Daphne or Delphine?

I love Daphne, not so much Delphine.

Duckyfondant · 31/07/2024 09:39

Can't decide but I like them both

HettyCletter · 31/07/2024 09:52

I like both, but prefer Delphine.

chipmugs · 31/07/2024 10:01

My gran (1921-2000) was Daphne (Daph) and I love the name! Met a toddler one at playgroup with DS2, who would be about 10 now.

It's glamorous and fabulous in my opinion and if people are calling little girls Mabel Elsie and Violet then I think anything goes. I also like Shirley

LakelandDreams · 31/07/2024 10:02

Daphne is quite pretty I think. Ready for a come back.

hazandduck · 31/07/2024 10:54

Love them both! Really love the soft ‘ph’ sound in a name. I really love Audrey too, Daphne and Audrey were my Gran’s two besties 😄

queenofthewild · 31/07/2024 12:52

I think it's a beautiful name that's due a comeback

KirstenBlest · 31/07/2024 13:08

Daphne

kfellover · 31/07/2024 13:09

It’s beautiful but I think will become quite popular soon because of Bridgerton.

Same but probably because my mum is Daphne!

Okayornot · 31/07/2024 15:21

I like Daphne.

Delphine was the name of my French exchange's horrid cat which bit me.

FakeMiddleton · 31/07/2024 15:23

Daphne is lovely!

Daphne Guinness is certainly not old and frumpy

BogusHocusPocus · 31/07/2024 15:59

IMHO, Delphine sounds aspirational / pretentiously French.

Like, when Amelie was all the range (prob because of the film) instead of Emily.

Piers instead of, well, anything (Peter is better).

Lara instead of Laura.

Lara, Piers, Amelie, they are all trying hard to be 'classy' and because of the try-hard factor, failing.

Daphne is very soft and pretty. It makes me think of Chloe. I think it's a lovely name.

DemBonesDemBones · 31/07/2024 16:15

Daphne is gorgeous. But so is Delphine! You can't go wrong with either.

Or maybe you’re just overly judgmental re: names and class by the sound of it..

BogusHocusPocus · 31/07/2024 16:34

@Malahide it's an opinion thread. That's my opinion.

RuthW · 31/07/2024 16:40

I like Daphne.

I agree. Hugo and Milo and Amelie are another few that were everywhere a few years ago and now sound silly.
