Isadora Marie and Reyna Autumn

Pregnant with twin girls due in only a few weeks and still unsure on baby names.

We already have two sons called Julian Alexander and August James. Both DH and I still really love the names Isadora and Reyna for our daughters but we are unsure as to whether they match or go well with our boys' names. Middle names do have some special connection but we are not fussed about changing those if there is a name that goes better.

Other options include:

Miriam
Joy
Ophelia
Rose

as these are the only names both DH and I love!

Please give me your thoughts and any new suggestions. Xx

I don’t think names need to match.

Isadora is too long and dramatic for me. I’d swap that for Miriam, which is beautiful.

Reyna is ok.

What is the obsession with matching? They are 4 individual people who will one day grow and live independently, perhaps hundreds of miles from each other. Why do they need to be labeled as part of a pack? Their surname can bind them together. You need to focus more on whether a name goes with that, not with their siblings’ names.
FWIW not a fan of Isadora. Miriam is lovely as is Reyna and Rose.

I like Isadora but not keen on Reyna. Miriam is lovely. Joy and Rose seem a bit insubstantial compared to the others. Maybe because they get relegated to middle names most often. Rosalie would go nicely with Isadora. I have a soft spot for Joyce but not sure if others are on board with reviving it for the current generation yet.

Thanks for the help! I am not obsessed with them matching really, I just don't want it to sound too absurd. But for twins, I do kind of care about them going fairly well together.

We are thinking Miriam Rose maybe. Because Miriam Marie sounds a bit off and I think Rose and Joy may not work as well for first names. Also, I do want different initials for all my children.

Julian, August, Septima, Octavia (November…..December ….)

They would match.

I wouldn’t choose Reyna Autumn because it sounds like Rainy Autumn.

Reyna seems the one that doesn’t “go” to me as the others are quite classical.

Miriam and Ophelia are nice, but I’d consider the popularity of Ophelia and if it matched the surname as it can be quite a tricky one. Another Shakespearean name with Rose is Rosalind? Miriam and Rosalind are cute together.

Firsttimebabymummy · 28/07/2024 13:54

Came to say Rasoalind?

I prefer Miriam to Isadora. Otherwise I like your list. Reyna is nice

mathanxiety · 28/07/2024 13:59

Julian, August, Isadora, and Ophelia are the most similar in style.

Reyna is very Spanish so doesn't really go.
Marie was a filler middle name for decades. It sounds very dated to me.
Autumn doesn't go with the other names at all.

For middle names -
Isadora Maria
Ophelia Rose

I realise Rose is seen as a filler middle name these days, but it sounds nice with Ophelia imo - it's elegant.

This. Reyna would be fine with a different name following it.

JimNast · 28/07/2024 14:20

Isadora Marie - not keen on Isadora, Marie as middle name is dated
Reyna Autumn - dreadful. Will get said as Rain a'Rautumn. I quite like Raine
Miriam - like
Joy - oh dear, tempting fate
Ophelia - looks nice but sounds like Feel yer
Rose - boring middle name

Miriam Marie is basically Mary Mary

Onelifeonly22 · 28/07/2024 14:30

I think Isadora Rose flows better, then maybe Reyna Marie (so both 4 syallables)

LoneHydrangea · 28/07/2024 14:38

Middle names don’t matter at all, so just choose anything you like.

yikesanotherbooboo · 28/07/2024 17:37

I'm not a fan of Reyna or Autumn. I would choose Isadora and Miriam and pick middle names for sentimental/family reasons.

Letitrain93 · 28/07/2024 21:03

My name is Miriam Rose Amelia and I love my name. :)

my vote would be Miriam and Isadora.

user1492757084 · 29/07/2024 08:33

Julian Alexander, August James and ..
Isadora Joy and Rose Mirriam
or
Rosalind Joy and Mirriam Reyna
or
Rosemary Joy and Isadora Autumn

Brexile · 29/07/2024 22:24

Isidora is a better spelling.

theduchessofspork · 30/07/2024 00:02

I love Isadora and your boys’ names

But Reyna Autumn is awful (sorry to be so blunt)

How about Marianne rather than Miriam? Joy as a middle name maybe?

I like Ophelia and Rose too

Joy is just too much to live up to as a first name.

Isadora Rose sounds like a question.

The entire name has five syllables, not four.
