Mums of Henry's out there

I'm posting on behalf of close friend(just had a baby) beautiful little boy called Henry. However she was abit upset earlier as she told me some people have been saying ,Horrid Henry. I didn't realise this was still around because my first thought was Henry Cavill when she told me his name he's a beautiful baby and suits his name well I think he does. We don't know any other Henry's out there so if anyone's a mum of one could do with some reassurance for my friend that they have never had this association from the TV series. It could be hormones bless her as she only had him a couple of weeks ago.

I know 4 Henrys. The only associations have been with King Henry

I think its a lovely name

Firsttimebabymummy · 26/07/2024 17:45

Henry is a lovely name!

I think I received one comment from my primary school aged nephew when he was first born but nothing since.
its a great name and the way my toddler says it himself is just the cutest.
tell her she has nothing to worry about

Aw my DS is Henry and most people mention Henry 8th which I think is a worse association! I'm a primary school teacher and it makes me smile whenever I see the Horrid Henry books at school. If they're still popular when DS is at school I'm just going to teach him to laugh it off.

I am not a mum of a Henry. (I am not a mum of anyone).

But I think that
Henry is a lovely name. A true classic!

I don't even know who Horrid Henry is (I am not from the U.K., and English is not my first language, so that might be why).

The name Henry makes me think of
Prince Harry
Thierry Henry
A very nice old man I know with the name Henry

Lilac90 · 27/07/2024 14:14

I wouldn't think of that personally.

Plus it's one of the most popular boys names so with it being so common really don't think it'd be anything her DC would be bullied for or receive negative comments, particularly as there are so many others with the same name too.

Henry is a great name.
But if it bothers her she can always have (perfect) Peter next time lol.

I have a Henry, he is now 20. Never been associated with Horrid Henry or Henry 8th. It’s a great name!!!

Whatever the name, if you look hard enough you will always find something. Henry is a beautiful classic! My number 1 boys name ✨

My beautiful grandson is Henry and I've never even thought about it or heard it mentioned. I'm a teacher as well

LetItGoHome · 01/08/2024 07:50

It's a lovely name. But all school aged children/parents will associate it with horrid Henry books.
They are very popular and useful books to get children reading. I wouldn't worry about it unless he has a brother called Peter!

Iasonnas · 01/08/2024 07:57

My friend says to her kid, don't be horrid Henry when he's naughty. And yes, he's called Henry.

It's still very popular so why wouldn't people think of it?

Helplessandheartbroke · 01/08/2024 08:06

I'm am auntie of Henry and he gets no stick just what a strong and lovely name he has x

lazzapazza · 01/08/2024 08:37

I love my Henry. He is great at cleaning up but does fall over a lot.

CruCru · 06/08/2024 10:40

My son is called Henry. I think someone mentioned Horrid Henry / the hoover twice in his life.
