Name dilemma

My Sister and I (both pregnant with girls) want to use the same name for our daughter, it is the name of our grandmother who was more like our mother as we lost our own mother very young.
the girls will have different surnames and will not attend the same nursery’s / pre school / school but will be around each other growing up and my daighter is due after my sister’s daughter.

will I look like I have copied? The name is too sentimental to just be a middle name for me. Please give me your honest thoughts

I have 2 cousins with the same name, different surname. But they are 12 years apart. I don't know if I'd do it for cousins who will be the same age. Although my cousins have had a lifetime of being 'Big X' and 'Little X' despite 'Little X' now being 28 years old and 6ft 5! So I suppose you'd avoid that at least.

If they have lots of different diminutives I might go for it. Not sure otherwise, I think I'd think again. Is there another way of honouring the name? For example, if the name was Elizabeth you could use something like Isabella which derives from the same root?

If you both badly want that name then do it. You might find one or both gets a family nickname anyway. I'm sure you can find a solution
