At last someone (two someones!) recognises it! Tolly from "The Children of Green Knowe" it is. Thank you Vulgar, I'm so pleased someone else loves it.
Surely Debbie's horse has been pushing up the daisies for years? I last remember her Tolly when she claimed she fell off him to cover up the beating she got from Guy Pemberton's son. And that was over a decade ago!
