Narrowing Down My Eclectic Mix....

Brothers Noah and Jacob. Girls names are impossible....
Seem to have an eclectic mix going on. Please help me narrow down!

Eden (Biblical to continue theme)
Shiloh (biblical to go with boys names, worried too out there or unisex)
Jemima (biblical to go with boys names but dislike Jem, and worry it's a bit upper class).
Matilda (loved since boys, but dislike shortenings. A few friends have used this name).
Madison (similar to Matilda but less popular. Really like this)
Arabella (Always disliked longer name but seen a lot on social media recently and really starting to love the sound).
Athena (warrior, strong, but not sure if it's a bit out there compared to boys names).
Seren (love that it means Star, but I'm not Welsh. Would it be a bit odd?)

Thank you! I just want to love the name as much as I love my boys names.

Demeter in a similar vein to Athena. I love this name but have never met one.

The name you are looking for is Ruth.
Biblical but in a good way. Unusual but also classic. And Ruthie is sweet as a little nickname.

Off your own list - since it’s, like, your own child and all - then Eden or Seren. Jemima at a push. The others are a definite no from me!

BobbyBiscuits · 06/07/2024 15:14

I like Eden. Not mad on the others. Serena with an A is nice though.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 06/07/2024 15:14

I like Seren.

CommeUneVacheEspagnole · 06/07/2024 15:16

Eden is an amazing name. Should go to the top of the list!

Madison and Athena are good.

Jemima is a puddle duck.
Matilda is a book.
Shiloh and Arabella are nice names but overused.
Seren is lovely but will be misspelt and pronounced.

CosFuckThatGuy · 06/07/2024 15:24

Hebe?

Springwatch123 · 06/07/2024 15:25

Madison - as that’s the name you love the most.

I always find Ruth a peevish sort of name.

Gorgonemilezola · 06/07/2024 15:30

Artemis?

VincentVanGoth · 06/07/2024 15:34

Seren or Athena are nicest.

Gabrielle?

Firsttimebabymummy · 06/07/2024 15:47

Eden (Biblical to continue theme) 1 - love!

Shiloh (biblical to go with boys names, worried too out there or unisex) 4

Athena (warrior, strong, but not sure if it's a bit out there compared to boys names). 3

Seren (love that it means Star, but I'm not Welsh. Would it be a bit odd?) 2 love!

These are the only ones I like and I've numbered in order of preference. :)

LauderSyme · 06/07/2024 15:48

I don't think you have to go with another biblical name as there is no real need for a theme.

I think Madison is a very pretty name and for me, it doesn't have sketchy connotations.

I have always loved Athena and it is not out at all out there these days.

I think Seren is gorgeous too and it doesn't matter that you're not Welsh.

Out of your list I would choose one of these three. I think Seren goes the nicest with Noah and Jacob by a tiny margin.

Interesting. It's my middle name and I have never liked it. I do like it's meaning - the opposite of ruthless - but not it's sound and shape.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 06/07/2024 15:51

If you like Arabella but prefer shorter names, how about Arabel? I taught an Arabel once and always thought it was a lovely name.

Of your others, I like Athena and Seren. Really not a fan of Eden.

MadameMassiveSalad · 06/07/2024 15:54

Love Seren best.
You don't have to be Welsh!

ALunchbox · 06/07/2024 17:45

I like Seren and Annie.

AmytheDancingBrick · 06/07/2024 22:46

CurlewKate · 06/07/2024 11:59

Eden's not a biblical name for a person, though!
Martha?
Stella
Kate

Are you a fan of The Archers!?

HaveAWordWithYerselfWouldYa · 06/07/2024 22:54

How about Tabitha? That is Biblical.

Or Aurora?

Eden, Matilda, Seren and Athena all lovely

CurlewKate · 06/07/2024 22:55

@AmytheDancingBrick "Are you a fan of The Archers?"

🤣🤣🤣I am- but I genuinely didn't notice that!! Quite like Alice too...

Jessieshome · 07/07/2024 12:15

Hannah, Rebecca and Mary are good biblical names too.

I love Jemima! There was a character on Shetland called Jemima and they shortened it to Mima, but in their accent was pronounced more like May-ma, which I thought was lovely.

Seren is lovely and doesn't matter if you're Welsh or not, most Welsh people or certainly Welsh speaking ones would pronounce it Seh- wren (wren like the bird) not Seh-run.
