Hiya . . . . your lists are lovely

Personally, I don't like the names Axel or Aubrey but all the other names are lovely

If I had to choose my favourite for a boy I would select

Archie John

I would have more trouble with the girls names as they are all lovely

Thanks for your opinion, funny you should say that about Axel and Aubrey as I feel they are abit out there for me too even though I do like them I do care what people think too x

Not a fan of Aubrey or Axel, and Millie is just so overused it’s dull. As a lot of Amelia’s are Millie’s.

Oliver is hugely popular if that bothers you or not? Same with Alfie and Archie. Every Willow will be Willow Grace/May/Rose as they are the ultimate filler middle names that all girls have currently.

Pippa is nice.

Firsttimemama094 · 23/06/2024 13:22

Thanks @AngelDelightButNotStrawberry I am not too bothered about popular names but I would like something thats not overused ideally. do you have any name suggestions for either a boy or girl that you like at the moment?x

Springwatch123 · 23/06/2024 13:25

I’m not an Axel or Aubrey fan either (thought Aubrey was a boys name!)

Other names are all good.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 23/06/2024 13:32

Well I could tell you my children’s names but I unknowingly gave them top ten names! They weren’t as popular at the time 😂

I love Elijah, Noah, Flynn, Jake, Theo (not Theodore), Finlay, Samuel.

Indie, Anya, Thora, Thea, Layla, Soraya, Seren, Bethan.

They’re all names that would be on my lists now. Not that I’m having any more!

Fifthtimelucky · 23/06/2024 14:01

Using your names I'd go for:

Aubrey John or Oliver John for a boy

Philippa May or Sophia Grace for a girl.

(I don't like traditionally male names like Aubrey for girls.)

FayCarew · 23/06/2024 14:03

Archie Brennan
Axel Brennan
Oliver Brennan
Alfie Brennan

Girl:
Willow Brennan
Aubrey Brennan - too many 'br's
Millie Brennan
Pippa Brennan

Not keen on Archie, Axel or Alfie. or Vincent. Nothing wrong with them, just not my taste.

I really don't like Aubrey. It sounds like an 85-yr old man's name.

May and Grace are filler middle names. Willow Grace implies a willowy graceful person. Just saying.

Have you considered Ivy for a girl?

Philippa is nice and shortens to Pippa.

Oliver John is nicer than Oliver Vincent, which is too v-heavy.

AmelieTaylor · 23/06/2024 14:14

Out of your list I like Alfred John (Alfie)

I love Pippa, but not Pippa Brennan (and no one routinely uses a middle name)

I think you other names work with Brennan either.

I think you need to ignore the middle name & see how things sound with just first name/surname.

I like Sophie Brennan

Names I didn't use but loved were

Isla
Imogen
Jack

I only had one boys name and wasn't going to sway but I had a little girl.

Misorchid · 23/06/2024 14:37

Oliver and Millie.
I think Millicent would be the baptismal name and then she would be called Millie?

GummiBeari · 23/06/2024 14:52

i like Oliver and Millie.

Firsttimemama094 · 23/06/2024 15:09

Boy:
Archie John Brennan - not for me. especially if you’ll ever actually call him ‘Archie John’ I think it’s a little on the tacky side. Though I do like AJ. Archie is fine without John, though incredibly popular for years so you’ll meet loads, depends if that bothers you.

Axel Vincent Brennan - axel is getting more popular and just seems like parents were trying very hard to be quirky to me.

Oliver Vincent Brennan - nice name but Oliver is incredibly popular. Alfred and axel not as popular so I don’t know if you mind that

Alfred John Brennan (Alfie) - Alfred is fine. I don’t like Alfie. Alfie John sounds the same as Archie John to me.

what about

Lucas John
Dominic Vincent

Girl:
Willow Grace Brennan - willow is lovely but unless grace means something to you I wouldn’t use it. It’s become a real filler middle name and I bet you could find something just as lovely. It’s the real Jane and Louise middle name of the 80s and 90s

Aubrey May Brennan - really like Aubrey, I don’t think it’s out there at all. But I do think may is another filler middle name.
What about Aubrey Florence
or Aubrey Sophia

Millie Sophia Brennan - nice name.

Pippa Florence Brennan - nice name but personally would use Philippa as the name on BC

Mumofgirls2017 · 23/06/2024 16:16

Axel or Willow!

Firsttimemama094 · 23/06/2024 17:02

Thanks @Pumpkindoodles to be honest the middle names wouldnt be used its more just if full name was ever written in full.

John is my partners grandads name so a tribute to him but it wouldnt be used as part of a first name but equally not a done deal either if we didnt use it x

OP posts:
Firsttimemama094 · 23/06/2024 17:04

I also know what you all mean with filler names and I feel like thats what im doing really just filling a space, maybe I need to ditch that idea x

OP posts:
Luminousalumnus · 23/06/2024 17:07

Sorry but out of your selection, I would go
Vincent John or
John Vincent
and girls
Sophia Florence

FayCarew · 23/06/2024 17:33

Brennan sounds quite strong and masculine, so I think you either need a strong or softer first name.

Reuben Brennan - too many Bs and Rs
Lewis Brennan - slightly clunky
Callum Brennan - ok
Harry Brennan - best
Harrison Brennan - doesn't fllow

Isla Brennan - good
Poppy Brennan - fine
Ayla Brennan - too weak
Orla Brennan - too weak

I'd go with something longer for a girl:
Felicity or Verity softens the surname

Firsttimebabymummy · 25/06/2024 10:30

Archie John Brennan - hmm Archie would be a tacky name around here... AJ is lovely though.
Axel Vincent Brennan - too out there for my taste personally but I do like it. Never met one.
Oliver Vincent Brennan - Oliver is very popular if that bothers you?
Alfred John Brennan (Alfie) - same as Archie. I'd stick to Alfred. Again, AJ is nice.

Girl:
Willow Grace Brennan - lovely
Aubrey May Brennan - I find this too old and I dislike may as a middle name as just so mande around here.
Millie Sophia Brennan- lovely
Pippa Florence Brennan - lovely

I prefer your girls list :)

From your reply I like Reuben. I prefer your original girls names xx

DappledThings · 25/06/2024 11:04

Aubrey is a boy's name. Move it to your boy list and I think it's great.

SallyWD · 25/06/2024 11:07

I like Oliver and Alfred for the boys. Great names. For the girls I'm not overly keen on any. I like Millie and Pippa but as nicknames. I always feel they should have the full name on the birth certificate do Camilla or Millicent and Philippa. That's just me though!

notnowmarmaduke · 25/06/2024 11:10

why not Philippa? Pippa is short for Philippa, I think give her the full name, then she can chose a shortened version if she wants

I like Axel too

miniaturepixieonacid · 25/06/2024 13:17

I love Aubrey for a girl. People on mumsnet always say it's a boys' name but that's only on mumsnet. It's been much more popular for girls for a long time - following American naming trends. Currently anked 239th for girls in UK and 81st in USA. For boys it's 626th in the UK and 1426th in USA. So not a contemporary boys name. Unisex, heavily leaning towards girls.

Boy:
Archie John Brennan - like it.
Axel Vincent Brennan - not keen. I think Vinnie is cute. Maybe Vincent Axel?
Oliver Vincent Brennan - it's okay but there are just so many Olivers.
Alfred John Brennan (Alfie) - it's okay but again, so many Alfies.

Girl:
Willow Grace Brennan - like it but I would really worry about the child not being willowy or graceful. It would be a consideration for me with even one of those names but both is quite a load to carry!
Aubrey May Brennan - love it
Millie Sophia Brennan - quite like it
Pippa Florence Brennan - really like it

I would choose Archie John and Aubrey Grace (prefer Grace to May)
