I've posted here before but keep going backwards and forwards on all our names so just after more opinions please :)

Baby girl is due to arrive imminently and we won't be naming her until we've seen her. However we do want to go in armed with a list of names we like!

Middle name will be Joy as its a family name and our surname is 2 syllables starting with an S - just in case initials have and negative connotations we've not thought of... my initials are BJ and I don't want to make the same mistake with my own child!

Our favourites at the moment are:

Summer
Lydia
Eloise
Erin
Holly
Anna

Thanks!

I like Lydia and Erin.

Nicebloomers · 22/06/2024 08:39

Summer Joy sounds like a body spray scent so I’d avoid that.
Holly Joy is a bit too Christmassy

my favourites are:
Eloise Joy
Lydia Joy

Anna Joy and Erin Joy are nice but a bit plain.

TM1979 · 22/06/2024 08:47

Any of them except Eloise. Summer is lovely.

BizzyOldFule · 22/06/2024 08:55

Agree with Nicebloomers about Summer and Holly
I think Lydia Joy is good. (3 syllables, 1 syllable, 2 syllables). Nice rhythm.

Lydia Joy Simpson
Lydia Joy Samuels
Lydia Joy Stevens
Lydia Joy Southgate

All sound good.

KnitnNatterAuntie · 22/06/2024 09:06

Summer ~ least favourite
Lydia ~ favourite, really lovely
Eloise ~ nice
Erin ~ nice
Holly ~ nice
Anna ~ 2nd favourite

I think Joy matches best with Lydia, Anna, Eloise & Erin

I also like

Rosanna Joy
Naomi Joy
Elizabeth Joy
Hannah Joy
Catherine Joy
Miriam Joy
Esther Joy
Serena Joy
Verity Joy

They are all lovely names!
My top 3 would be Anna, Erin and Holly - I love how they’re all pretty, 2 syllable names (therefore unlikely to be shortened) that I’d be happy to be called myself and would also sound good on a child or teen (I can imagine them on my teenage daughter’s friends)

SallyWD · 22/06/2024 09:28

I like

Anna
Lydia
Summer

In that order

Velicirapitor · 22/06/2024 09:28

Anna is so classy ❤️

Enko · 22/06/2024 09:29

I agree to avoid Summer or Holly with Joy for the middle name

Love Eloise Joy

Personally I've never liked Erin

Comedycook · 22/06/2024 09:30

I like Summer, Eloise and Anna best.

Always disliked Erin.

Holly is a nice name too.

Lydia is a bit dull

Waterboatlass · 22/06/2024 09:32

Lydia or Anna my favourites.

Anna flows slightly more nicely with Joy.

Devilsmommy · 22/06/2024 09:35

Anna is definitely the best out of them😁

Brukli · 22/06/2024 09:58

Anna and Lydia are nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/06/2024 10:01

Summer - its a pretty name but already seems a bit dated to me. It was quite popular with teenage parents I used to work with in the early 00s so I guess I associate it with that

Lydia - gorgeous. I've only ever met 3, one is 36, one is 8 and 1 is 10 months.

Eloise - its nice enough just not for me

Erin - ok but quite popular which puts me off

Holly - a lovely classic

Anna - I like it alot but prefer Lydia and Holly

ExitChasedByCars · 22/06/2024 10:51

Your list sounds lovely but, with Joy as a middle name, Lydia seems like a strong contender.

I like Lydia and Eloise the best. I would usually like Summer, but not with Joy as a middle.

NightPuffins · 22/06/2024 11:05

Summer Joy and Holly Joy both sound like seasonal air fresheners. A shame because Summer, Holly and Joy are all lovely names, it's just the combination becomes sickly.
But if you used two middle names it would work. Summer Erin Joy or Holly Erin Joy both perfect.

Anna, I always think it's just a bit plain and invisible as a name.

Lydia, Eloise and Erin are all lovely choices with Joy as a middle name.

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/06/2024 11:42

Summer- love (but will probably date…)
Lydia- meh
Eloise- love but not fan of ellie
Erin- like
Holly- like but it’s becoming dated I think
Anna- nice classic

KirstenBlest · 22/06/2024 13:07

Summer - no, and definitely not with Joy
Lydia - yes
Eloise - ok, a bit of a mouthful. Will probably be Ellie.
Erin - I'm not keen. Doesn't go with the middle name.
Holly - nice but a bit Christmassy. Doesn't go with the middle name.
Anna - nice, classic. Yes

Anna or Lydia, whichever goes best with the surname.

Theoldwoman · 22/06/2024 13:32

Lydia Joy or Erin Joy

MumsofAnarchy24 · 22/06/2024 13:57

Lydia is such a rare gem these days.

Full confidence on Lydia, it's beautiful.

Firsttimebabymummy · 22/06/2024 15:25

Lydia is my favorite by far and then 2nd is Anna xx.

Grendell · 22/06/2024 15:30

Summer - no, sounds like a product
Lydia - yes!
Eloise - yes!
Erin - sounds like Aaron and then you get "Girl Erin or Boy Aaron?"
Holly - no sounds like a product
Anna - ok

PurpleReindeer2 · 22/06/2024 15:36

Anna is my favourite then Lydia. Don't really like any of the others. Summer Joy sounds dreadful, like an advert name of something.

HuevoRanchero · 22/06/2024 15:40

Lydia or Anna. Summer is a bit mimsy. Holly is kind of perky and Christmas themed for a June/July baby. Erin is awful. Either you are calling your baby an anglicised version of ‘Ireland’ via Irish-America, or, for most Irish people, a nasty brand of packet soup.
