Ollie and Maddie?

Hi there. I have a son called Oliver, but he is known by all as Ollie. We can't seem to find a name that we both love as much as Madeleine for our girl on the way, but I worry that the inevitable shortening of Maddie is too similar / a bit twee alongside Ollie?

Just looking for other people's opinions on this really. We also like the name Faye, but not quite as much at the moment.

One of those is my DC’s name! Their sibling also has a name ending in an ‘ee’ sound. So my vote is it’s fine, they’re obviously different names and definitely not twee. Also you have excellent taste. Ha!

I think it’s fine. I know lots of siblings both with ‘ee’ endings or ‘a’ endings. Never thought anything of it. As long as it doesn’t completely rhyme, which this doesn’t.

Thanks so much for replying. It's good to know that everyone so far thinks they're fine together. I'm probably over thinking it to be honest, and I know they won't come as a pair forever, so we should probably just go with our favourite name.

Lovely names

I love the name Madeleine and also the short form of Maddie. The names don't clash and anyway, they'll grow up to be independent adults.
