I love all these girls names, are they all as common as each other? I realise we're not going to win any prizes for individuality! Eva, Olivia, Isabella. Thanks

Eva least popular. All Lovely names. Agree with Califrau

scottishmummy · 08/04/2008 18:45

dont let a bunch of anonymous strangers pick your baby name.why ponder something as personal and lasting as names with strangers

do you let strangers pick your shoes - unlkely! so why bother what anyone else thinks

what do you think

chrissnow · 08/04/2008 18:45

I like Eva (also like Ava and Eve)
We almost had dd1 as Olivia - but was served by v rude waitress called Olivia when I was due to pop!!! (I like it again now though)
Isabella is nice too (Izzy, Bella, Belle)
All good.
I think Eva is the one I've heard the least.

Tutter · 08/04/2008 18:46

she's not asking people to choose

she's asking about popularity

i know a couple of isabellas, no olivias and no evas (but i only have dsses so tend to meet other boys)

plenty of evies

collision · 08/04/2008 18:48

I dont know any children with any of these names and I am in a big church and work at a school!!

All are lovely names.

Aero · 08/04/2008 18:55

I know one Eva (my neice), two Olivias, and although lots of Isobels, only one Isabella. All of them are known as Issy though.

All pretty names - choose the one you like best.

charlie91 · 08/04/2008 19:05

Thanks, just can't decide, and trying to whittle down the shortlist! I love Livvy though am not keen on using shortened versions as names and Olivia is really too long with our surnames. Does anyone know if Livvy is short for anything else?

all pretty names - choose the one you like the most.
No matter what you choose you will always come across someone with the same name - better that its one you like!

neolara · 08/04/2008 19:14

What about Livia?

chrissnow · 09/04/2008 08:40

There's Libby - Short for Elizabeth?

MadameCh0let · 09/04/2008 15:45

I like them, but I like simpler names on the whole.

Eve seems much more elegant than Eva, jmo
I think Olivia is very pretty and I know it ranks higher than Isabella, but I don't know any and I know lots of Isabellas... Lydia is an alternative to Olivia.

Isabella is too long for me. Izz-a-bell-a. I like Isabella, but not Izzy. What about Annabella, or better still just Annabel. That is in the same style as Olivia and Isabella I think..

Eva or Olivia both beautiful imo, and nothing at all wrong with Isabella... You can't go wrong really.

serendippity · 09/04/2008 15:48

Isabella is my fav, i'm 8 weeks pg and, if it's a girl, I really really want that name as well, can we share?
I like oliva too and the abbreviation of Livvy.

dizzydixies · 09/04/2008 23:41

my Isabella is known as Ella
only know one Olivia and no Eva's
good luck choosing, they're all lovely

MissPaulaYates · 09/04/2008 23:43

All 3 are lovely girls names. Hope this helps:

Top 100 girls names in the UK for 2007, from National Statistics Online:

No. 3 - Olivia
No. 19 - Isabella
No. 52 - Eva

I have a Natalia (Na-tah-lee-a) - all my friends hate it which made me very sad for months. Shame they made me feel like that - she's so beautiful.

Good luck with your choice. x

HereComeTheGirls · 10/04/2008 10:08

Natalia is a lovely name!

And I can't believe your friends told you they hate it! I would never say anything to my friends even if I didn't like their baby's name, as its their choice!!!!

at them!

Pen74 · 10/04/2008 12:17

What do you mean 'best of a bad bunch'! They are all lovely. Eva is stunning!!

I would go for Olivia, personally, because there's only one way of spelling it and not any close variants on it that I can think of. Eva will be constantly called "Evie" and "Evelyn" and there are a trillion different ways of spelling "Isabella" (only reason it doesn't come higher up the ONS list as they only count ones with identical spelling)

I say this because there are four different ways of spelling my very straightforward name and I've never given it without having to spell it, or watch the person write it down wrong, then ask and cross it out
