Jennifer has just popped into my head. What do you think? Too dated? Not keen on the shortenings, but think Jennifer is beautiful.

Really like it!

Thanks for the replies. Really surprised by all the love for Jennifer.

I hate it, but it's my name.

That's not to say your daughter will grow up hating it though!

I’m a late 80s Jennifer. Only called so because my mum thought I didn’t look like the original name they’d picked and Jennifer seemed inoffensive 😂. They always said you could be anyone you want with a name like Jennifer.

It gives options. I tend to introduce myself as Jenny and close friends and family call me Jen, and I had a phase of being Jenni when I was a teen.

Ivfnoclue · 16/06/2024 21:41

Jennifer is my number 1 name if I have a daughter. My grandmother was a Jennifer.

soundsys · 16/06/2024 22:01

Yes! Definitely due a revival! Has the benefit of being easy to spell and pronounce and there being unlikely to be another in the class

PithyLion · 15/06/2024 22:59

of course, but Jenny is less likely and that is what the OP doesn't want, I think

You're right, I hadn't read her OP correctly

I love Jennifer. Unfortunately I couldn't use it so my daughter's name is Jessica. Don't worry about it being 'dated'. It's a real classic, very pretty. Agree with PP, you can be anything you want with a name like Jennifer.

CelesteCunningham · 17/06/2024 14:04

I love it, BUT every single Jennifer I've known (and I'm 40, so there's a lot of them) has been Jenny or Jen to at least some people in their life, so if you can't stand those then I wouldn't pick it.

JennifernotJenny · 17/06/2024 14:08

Changed my username to say as one of the many 40something, apart from a brief flirtation at uni, I have always been a Jennifer. Apparently even as a toddler I was stroppy at the shortening to Jenny!

Its an OK name, but I can’t be neutral about it as it’s mine.

CatherinesBar · 17/06/2024 22:28

Very popular in my generation. Like the shortened versions too

Aria999 · 17/06/2024 22:42

I like it.

(Also Yennifer in The Witcher is very cool)

Cluborange666 · 17/06/2024 22:42

I dislike it.

SallyWD · 17/06/2024 22:44

I like it mainly because I like Jenny.
