Baby girl names for October

We really cannot agree on a girl name. Hubby likes very traditional/common names however I like slightly different names. We have a dog names Willow because I loved it and he wouldn't sign off on it for our child 🤣 we also have dog called Luna which I see is another common name at the moment ☺️

I hate to be stupid but is this for a baby due in the month October or with the surname October 🙈

KnickerlessParsons · 22/05/2024 18:06

Octavia?

TheCultureHusks · 22/05/2024 18:07

Will the baby have his surname?

if so you get first dibs. If he digs his heels in, put the surname back on the table 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately we are married so will be having his name regardless 🤣 although many people have been telling me to use my maiden name as a middle name for bub xx

I actually like quite a few of these. I have many on my list and he's still not committed to anything. I might have to just register bub without him 🤣🤣 bub will likely end up with a nickname they go by anyway xx

Well no. You can give your baby any surname you choose.

But the first point still stands, in terms of choosing names, he’s already ‘chosen’ one. His family name is already being used. The middle isn’t quite the same!

You should have first reserve on the first name. A good way to do it when the surname is his, is this -

you choose ten names.

He chooses his favourite three of these.

You choose the final name from those three.

So the first name is one from your list, but he does get input which means the final choice isn’t one he hates.

This is fair when it’s his surname. You should have more, and the final, say.

I was about to suggest Autumn as well. Maybe Hallie or Morticia if born close to the end of the month.

So, if he likes traditional and common and you like different then I'd go with traditional but unusual. Like:

Anika, Bronte, Bryony, Bethan, Cassandra, Clarissa, Carys, Cecily, Claire, Camilla, Diana, Esther, Frances, Giselle, Henrietta, Honor, Hester, Isolde, Josephine, Jocelyn, Jemima, Keziah, Lucinda, Lois, Miranda, Mary, Nicola, Nadia, Paloma, Rhiannon, Rosemary, Ruth, Sarah, Stephanie, Susannah, Talitha, Tassita, Tamara, Vanessa, Verity, Xanthe, Yolanda

SkaneTos · 22/05/2024 22:38

Hazel, Amber, and Autumn are good autumn-names for a girl, I agree with the previous posters.
