First name and surname too similar?

We really like Toby if baby is a boy but surname is Tomlinson. Is it a bit too cartoon-characterish? My sister thinks it’s fine and nice sounding but I am just a bit sceptical!

Sounds fine to be. However, you don’t want a name you’re uncertain about. You need a name you love.

Tobias nn Toby?

That would be it but it’s the To-To making me hesitate!

I’ve known a John Jones, William G Williams, Jim Jameson and a Tom Thompson over the years. Those were too similar.

Toby Tomlinson has the superhero alliteration going on,(Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Pepper Potts, Otto Octavius, Reed Richards etc etc) but it’s a nice name and not too similar.

I see what you mean OP. I wouldn't say it's particularly cartoony but it is a bit of a tongue twister.

I'm on the fence with it. It's not that bad, it just doesn't flow super well IMO.
