So I did a thread about the name Lyla which a lot of people liked but I didn't want to use a common middle name like rose/mae etc so what do we think of Lyla Grey?

...It's not a name.

Grey is so dull and boring. Why not Lyla Blue?
Lyla Azure
Lyla Indigo
Lyla Cerise
Lyla Marigold
Lyla Jade
Lyla Scarlett
Lyla Sapphire
Lyla Emerald

Lyla Lavender :)

Grey sounds a bit dark and sad 🌑

What about Grace?

Reminds me of Lilo Lil.

Lyla sounds a bit contrived. Grey even more so.

Sorry but it sounds like a Dulux shade

I really dislike it, because I feel like the meaning is literally dull, colourless. And it does at the same time sound "samey" with all those other popular -ay middle names anyway.

Even though they're very common and not to my taste, Mae, Rae, Rose or Grace would actually be better.

How about Lyla Storm, Lyla Blue, Lyla Zenith, Lyla Faith, or even Lyla Star for something simple yet striking.

Or, it might be good to ground a fairly modern short name like Lyla with a more traditional sounding (and possibly longer) middle name. You can still choose something slightly unusual/unexpected. Eg:

Lyla Elisabeth
Lyla Meredith
Lyla Jane
Lyla Marjorie
Lyla Margot
Lyla Genevieve
Lyla Juliet
Lyla Rosalind
Lyla Frances

Etc
