Melody Anne

I prefer Melody Jane, but don’t dislike Melody Jasmine. How many syllables is the surname?

EmmasDilemmas · 20/05/2024 23:42

I think a single syllable sounds better after Melody so of your two would pick Jane.

Other options could be Rose, Rae, Grace, June.

Melody Anne

This is a nice suggestion as Anne is in my family names. And I quite like how it sounds like "melodian" which is very musical. Very matchy. I just like the idea of using a J initial so they could be Nicknamed MJ.

3 syllable last name, several letters :) and I agree I think one syllable is better. The only issue is Jane is my MIL name and would mean leaving out my mum Vicky.

I feel like Jasmine is prettier than Jane as a name alone but Melody Jane flows better??

Doctor Who character @megadreamer8 Melody Pond. First thing that came to mind when you said 'middle name to go with Melody!'

cherryassam · 20/05/2024 23:51

Does your mum have a middle name?

Melody Victoria could be an option too

Or you could go for something completely different if you wanted to avoid honouring MiL and not your mum

It's actually Ann :) but then I guess is the thought that I'd be leaving my MIL out. I suppose it depends what is nicer.
Which sounds better

Melody Ann or Melody Jane

Definitely Melody Jane. Jane is a lovely, sweet, classic, and under-used name.

It is nice and simple. Especially next to Melody, I think it flows well.
But do I add Victoria afterwards? Would 11 syllable name be too long?

Wickedlywearynamechanged · 21/05/2024 05:32

Melody Jasmine
Melody Jane

Thank you 🥰

Even before the page and your OP loaded i was thinking Melody Jane in my head. It has such a nice melodic sound to it.

Hiker50 · 21/05/2024 05:45

Not Ann.
Melody might be shortened to Mel
Then she'd be Mel Anne

Melody Jane
Melody Elizabeth

itsgettingweird · 21/05/2024 05:49

Definitely needs a 1 syllable lide name with Melody.

So I bite Melody Jane

But also like

Anne
Fern
Eve
Grace
June
Joy

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 21/05/2024 07:20

Melody Jane was the first one I thought of before even seeing your options so definitely that

songaboutjam · 21/05/2024 07:24

I feel like Jasmine is prettier than Jane as a name alone but Melody Jane flows better??

Melody is a pretty name too, I think it pairs well with something simpler to balance it out. Melody Jasmine is perhaps a little too frilly.

Mumofgirls2017 · 21/05/2024 12:27

Melody Jasmine

This is such a good point. My reasoning too. That Jane is nice and strong and simple next to the musical Melody. Thank you.

What do you think to Melody Jane Victoria? The surname begins with an M and is several letters/three syllables and ends on an consonant.

So 11 syllables: Melody Jane Victoria M*
(Vowel, consonant, vowel, consonant endings)

Or 7 syllables: Melody Jane M*
(Vowel, consonant, consonant)

Somebody suggested that it would sound better to have a consonant follow a Vowel

Also somebody suggested
Melody-Jane as one full name and then Victoria

Is it too long?
