Boy names like Jason, and a bit more (got off topic!)

Really really love the name Jason (and short form Jace, so sad I can't use it!) but DBIL is named Jason and we see him too often (multiple times a week) for us to name our son Jason as well, so I was looking for alternatives/names in the same style?

We were considering naming him Jason anyways as a bit of an honour, since no family would think it weird or anything, but we would probably have to end up calling him something else, like his middle name or an entirely different nickname/Junior or something, which I don't want to do :( it sucks because it's a gorgeous name and my DBIL is an amazing man, but we just see him way too often, and he's known as Uncle Jace/Uncle Jason to our daughter 🙁

We're having triplets and have settled on Christopher and Jasper for 2 (if they're boys) we were going to go for Henry as well but I've dated a Harry and it was enough of a relationship that it would be weird to have a Henry (since Harry is a nn for Henry sometimes as well). Also (very unfortunately!) can't use Jacob/Jake, Jonathan/John, Joseph/Joe, but I less so mean names that start with J and more just names with a similar vibe/style to Jason (I also don't like Jake, John, or Joe the way I like Jace). A name beginning with J is welcome though regardless! Was considering Julian as I like Jules, but not thaaat keen unfortunately.

If anyone is curious - our daughter is Rosalie Andrea, and the other names we've decided on for the triplets are:

Girl

  1. Lucy Aurelia
  2. Cecilia Renée
  3. Amelie Marjorie

(also side note, do you think we should go Amélie or Amelie? Accent would match with Renée, which is DH grandma's name) (also thoughts on maybe switching it to Amelie Renée and Cecilia Marjorie, or the way listed above? If we switched it I think we'd keep Amelie with no accent)

Boys

  1. Jasper Harrison
  2. Christpoher Dean
  3. WOULD HAVE BEEN Henry Austin, but not anymore

PS third boy name doesn't need to go with mn Austin, it's flexible.

Sorry for getting a little off topic!!! TIA 😊

I grew up with Jasons - I am that age.

There were Jasons, Scotts, Bradleys, Peters, Johns, Terrys, Brians, Kevins, Bretts, Darrens.

They were everywhere.

What about another Ancient Greek hero/myth name (to 'echo' hero Jason)? Hector, Alexander, Lysander, Ajax, Linus, Orion.......

Pinkywoo · 14/05/2024 15:33

You are aware Christopher Dean is a very famous ice skater?

DuploTrain · 14/05/2024 15:36

Grayson or Jenson?

Agree with pp that I wouldn’t go with Christopher Dean unless you’re a massive fan.

zump · 14/05/2024 15:49

To me, names that are similar to Jason are Wayne, Dwayne and Dean.

I'm not sure I'd recommend another boy's name beginning with J if you'll already be using Jasper for one of the triplets, as that could get confusing. However if you're set on it, what about Jackson, Jocelyn ("Joss"), Jesse or Jago?

If you can't use Henry Austin, you could still use Austin as a first name. Or Ashton which is similar.

Jasper, Christopher and Edward?

Marylou62 · 14/05/2024 18:20

Someone has already suggested Jago...but it's a lovely boy's name...

rumpusboo · 14/05/2024 18:27

Ryan?

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 14/05/2024 19:40

I think I'd use Jason as a middle name, especially if you also end up using Japer which is a bit too similar for first names imo. I might switch it around and have Christopher Jason and Austin Dean.

Use Jason as the second namefor the third boy.
You already have Jasper Harrison, which is quite like Jason as a first name.

Jasper Harrison, Christopher Dean and ..
Augustus Jason
Alister Jason
Allan Jason
Ashley Jason
Austin Jason
Jock Alexander

Allofusstrangers · 15/05/2024 09:34

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods I thought pp's suggestion of Scott was great and a similar vibe to Jason, your post made me realise why!
Op I wouldn't worry about Christopher Dean, Dean was the ice skaters surname, as your using it as a middle name it will hardly ever be heard and his peers wouldn't make a link anyway. I think Scott or Robert go well with your other choices.
