Struggling to decide as wasn’t too keen on something very popular and wanted lots of nicknames, but unsure if Tabitha T is too much. Thoughts? Thanks 🙂

Sophie

Kesio · 14/05/2024 10:10

I’d go with Sophie.

popular names are popular because more people like them

also Sophie will provide a bit more internet anonymity than Tabitha

I prefer Sophie although Sophia could be a good compromise or Talitha?

PitterPatter3 · 14/05/2024 10:23

I went to school with a Tabitha T and always thought it a brilliant name.

I like unusual names though personally and have Tabitha on my shortlist for DD due in the autumn. I’ve been purposefully looking for a name which has never been in the top 100.

motherofawhirlwind · 14/05/2024 10:42

My Tabitha is known as T, so I think that works perfectly!

NetMum2 · 14/05/2024 11:03

I much prefer Sophie to Tabitha.
How about Sofia?

SallyWD · 14/05/2024 11:16

I much prefer Tabitha. I find it more interesting. There are soooo many Sophies. Apologies to anyone who like the name but I've always found it quite wet.

MissingMoominMamma · 14/05/2024 11:18

Is your surname Twitchet?

MissingMoominMamma · 14/05/2024 11:19

Sorry- I actually prefer Tabitha, but both names are lovely!

AdaColeman · 14/05/2024 11:24

Tabitha!
There are already thousands of Sophies as it's been a top ten name for many years.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/05/2024 13:30

I much prefer Sophie.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 14/05/2024 13:39

Tabitha.

Charlotte120221 · 14/05/2024 13:48

Tabitha is always shortened to Tabby by other kids IME - so I'd go with Sophie.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 14/05/2024 13:51

Love Tabitha!

Theoldwoman · 14/05/2024 14:09

Sophie

MamaInManolos · 14/05/2024 14:14

Sophie!
If Tabitha or any other name starting with T, her initials will be T T, and could be lined up for a joke name in the future pronounced Titty!! 😂

lavenderjump · 14/05/2024 14:50

I adore Tabitha! It's on my shortlist and I don't personally know a Tabitha, it's quite uncommon without being too unusual.

Sophie is a bit more common and plain IMO

DinnaeFashYersel · 14/05/2024 15:03

Sophie

Tosstyhat · 14/05/2024 18:55

Why does Tabitha make me think of a cat?

Mandarinaduck · 14/05/2024 19:23

Tabitha is gorgeous. I like alliterative names, so the two Ts wouldn’t bother me.
Sophie is also a really lovely name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/05/2024 23:22

Unless your surname is actually Twitchit, then embrace the alliteration imo - it makes a name more memorable. Sophie Thompson ( or whatever) might be one of several, Tabitha Thompson stands out in a good way without getting too weird or unusual (but yes, watch out for middle names starting with a vowel).

MeanLeanRunnerbean · 14/05/2024 23:46

I love Tabitha, and she's already on her way to being a superhero with an alliteration name, giving the girl a headstart in life ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Sophie or Sophia.

Edit I've tagged the wrong post. I meant the post about the TT jokes.
