Just another thought for you, Jasper is likely to end up as Jas.
I don't think Rory is likely to get shortened.

They are very different names. I do really like Rory but have you also considered Jason?

Rory is really hard to pronounce for people struggling with their R! Wowy doesn't sound so nice...

Needanewname42 · 14/05/2024 18:21

@pinkmags I've only come across one person who couldn't pronounce R, and regularly said wubbers and wulers.

I'm imagining you don't live where I come from. I can't pronounce my Rs and it's normal there.

People always say this and I never understand why.

Should people just disregard all R names then? Wichawd, woss, wowan, wobewt, wachel?

And avoid all S names in case their kid has a lisp?

I much prefer Rory.

Casper is nice, but Jasper is very private school toff to me. I know it has become a bit more mainstream in recent years but it definitely still has a posh vibe to it.

Rory is lovely.

Rory. Jasper is a ridiculous name.

Pearlinda · 14/05/2024 20:09

Rory! Absolutely love it

Lokshen · 14/05/2024 20:10

Rory. I wanted a Rory (surprised with an Abigail though!!)
Jasper is the name of a psychotic kitten my parents once brought home. We were so frightened of him he had to be rehomed after a couple of days. Evil bastard.

Isitisit · 14/05/2024 20:11

These are my two favourite boys names! Fab choices.

pinkmags · 14/05/2024 20:19

No, but they need to be aware of the issue, especially as Rory contains two Rs.

Jasper if he's a Labrador, Rory if he's a red setter.

km1982 · 14/05/2024 20:33

I have a Rory and I think it's such a great name, suits a child and adult. Love it
