Middle name for Athena

I really like Athena for a girl.
The only thing that's putting me off is it's really hard to find a middle name that flows nicely.
Other names I love are Summer, Matilda and Violet. As much as I love Rose everyone has the middle name Rose.
I tend to use my children's first and second names most of the time.... As I think middle names should be used if you give them.
The middle name struggle is starting to put me off using Athena.

Also I'd wonder, would it change the way people view or treat her in circumstances? For example, if there's a playground fight, would she be more likely to be blamed for starting it because her name is associated with war?

Possibly the most mental thing I’ve ever read on MN, and that is quite a feat. Perhaps Interpol should put all Athenas on some sort of watchlist in case they take the notion to start world war 3? Utterly bonkers.

It’s a beautiful name, OP. I think Athena Jade has a nice ring to it.

It's a stretch but I don't think it's bonkers.

We all know how school gate mums can be. Can totally imagine a scenario where its like 'Athena started it!' 'Oh of course she did, she lives up to her name that one!'.

It's never their precious child. It'll be that 'bad kid named after the war goddess. You always knew she was going to be trouble'.

She ends up being the patsy.
Adults can be vicious too where there kids are concerned.

Go large and make it Athena Marina or Athena Sabina or Athena Paulina.

I have Athena Arena in my head - but these are much better .

@springpromise suggested Jade upthread. Sounds like a good call to me, if you plan to use the names together. I was going to suggest Jane but that's quite old fashioned

Yes, you’re right. The average person has a vast knowledge of Greek mythology, and will definitely assume little Athena from Basingstoke will grow up to be a pick me rape apologist on the fast track to committing war crimes.

ladygindiva · 05/05/2024 18:04

Athena violet is great

Apollo365 · 05/05/2024 18:04

I don’t think a middle name is needed

Something with one syllable. Like Jean or Jane, or yes, Joy.

No.offence but not everyone has an extensive knowledge of Greek mythology do they? In fact very few have any knowledge of it.

BTW if you stress the middle syllable, like the poster shop, or the was we Brits woukd say it,..it means "Athens" ( the city).

The girls name has the stress on the final syllable AthiNAH.

this will only matter if you go to Greece on holiday.

I can't figure out if you're posting in jest or in earnest.

If you're serious, that's the most bonkers post I've ever seen on Mumsnet.
