Hi,
we like both, both work well with our surname. Curious if there is an obvious standout between the two ☺️

thanks so much x

why comment if you don’t like either?

Love Imogen
Not a fan of Florence mainly because I'm not so keen on the common nicknames - Flo, Florrie, Flora

frogswimming · 01/05/2024 18:53

I like both, probably Imogen better

Pemba · 01/05/2024 18:55

Imogen is beautiful.

Florence is popular, but I find it a bit stodgy and don't like any of the short forms (Flo, Florrie, Flossie, all a bit Victorian kitchen maid and jokey somehow).

cheeseandbiscuitsplease · 01/05/2024 18:58

I love them both. Work with a girl with a Florence who gets called Flossy.

PermanentlyTired03 · 01/05/2024 18:59

Florence. Imogen is nice- but there’s a chance people will call her Immy which is awful.

Windysquall · 01/05/2024 19:00

Prefer Florence over Imogen, which I really dislike. It’s such a clunky sounding name (imo). I know a few of both (teens).

FayCarew · 01/05/2024 19:03

Imogen. have you considered Jimogen?

justalitteon · 01/05/2024 19:03

Both lovely names

stopringingme · 01/05/2024 19:11

Both great names but I like Imogen a tiny bit more.

StrawberryPavlova · 01/05/2024 19:31

I have an Imogen, I love her name. I don't mind Immy as a nickname, but we've just fallen in the habit of using her full name. Same with our eldest, there are plenty of nickname options for her name, but we've always used her full name.

Namechangeobviously85 · 01/05/2024 20:32

I’m biased as my daughter is called Imogen/Immy. ☺️love love her name obviously.

AnneNotEmily · 01/05/2024 20:42

Imogen. Florence is a beautiful name but the nn for it are all awful. I love both Imogen and Immy.

RuthW · 01/05/2024 21:23

Florence is lovely. Imogen isn't

mintich · 01/05/2024 21:25

Much prefer Imogen

FangsForTheMemory · 02/05/2024 04:17

Imogen. Florence feels old lady

toastofthetown · 02/05/2024 04:24

I prefer Florence, mostly because I prefer the nicknames for it. Personally I think Immy is dreadful and all but one young Imogen I know goes by Immy. Both are popular names, and maybe it’s just a me thing but I know far more Imogens than Florences - which probably makes the name feel a bit fresher to me.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 02/05/2024 10:21

Have you considered Astrid or Ingrid? Nicer than Imogen, and there aren't as many around.

I love Florence.

No they really aren't. Ingrid in particular has a very harsh sound. Don't mind Astrid, but Imogen is much nicer.

Um, I think they are. OK? I think Imogen has an ugly look and sound. I know both an Astrid and an Ingrid. My friend Ingrid is super cool. So I'm entitled to my opinions and have my reasons for them The OP is entitled to ignore them. Enjoy the rest of your day.

ViveLaOeuf · 02/05/2024 13:31

I like the name Imogen. Forence is OK (although super popular where I live) but I just don't like 'Flo'.

reabies · 03/05/2024 11:46

I prefer Florence but Imogen is also nice. The one I know (mid 30s) goes by Imo rather than Immy, or when we were younger she was occasionally Modge. Mostly gets her full name though.

Pemba · 03/05/2024 12:05

You can also get Jenny from Imogen. Or spelled Genny I suppose.

I knew a Flossie years ago. Love it.
