Help - I like the name but not the nickname!

So on a previous thread for name suggestions I liked Jonah that came up and each time I see it it catches my attending.

The only thing I’m struggling to see past is a I really dislike the nickname Joe. The nicknames I would probably go for would be Joey or Jones, and when he’s tiny maybe even Jonie but I wouldn’t automatically go to Joe.

I know nicknames can’t necessarily be controlled, but just hoping for opinions. Do you think it’s likely that Jonah would get shortened to Joe? And if anyone has a Jonah or knows a Jonah, do they get called Joe?

I only know one Jonah, he’s 8/9 and is just Jonah.

I know of one Jonah, and AFAIK, he just gets called Jonah. It's a nice name.

Yeah sorry it will turn into "Jo, kick the ball here Jo" etc but that's ok if he's OK with it

I have a Jonas and within the family it does get shortened, we use his full name most of the time but he also gets Joney, Jones and Jo. At school his friends haven't shortened it, he's always Jonas so it's not a given that it will be shortened.

I wouldn't automatically shorten to Joe in the same way as would with Joseph. You could get ahead of it by e.g. giving a J middle name and using JJ.
