middle name for jules?

Just posted a thread about boys names but in writing and reading it I realized I quite like the name Jules! Considering Julian as well, but I'm feeling more and more drawn to Jules on its own.

Essentially just asking if you have middle name ideas for Jules? Julian as well if there's anything especially nice. Family names are Dean, Caleb, George, William, Robert, Michael, Thomas, and Austin.

Siblings are Christopher, Jasper, and Lily! Their first & middle names are all 5 syllables, so something around that would be nice for this one as well, not too fussed on that but I don't like the idea of anything too short :( Their middle names are 8 letters, 8 letters, and 6 letters respectively.

Thanks in advance!

Jules, Julian or Julius are all well suited to Christopher, Jasper and Lily.

Julius Dean - favourite
Julian Michael - favourite
Julius Henry
Henry Julian
Henry William

Love Jules!

DuchessOfSausage · 29/04/2024 12:30

Verne

I’d stick with the full name on the birth certificate and shorten as a NN then that covers them for their whole life.
Jules as a child, Julian as an older man etc.
Julius Austin is amazing.
Also, those saying Jules is a girls name, it’s not. It’s a shorted version of Julian/Julia etc. It’s unisex!

SkalengeckOrSiegbarste · 29/04/2024 12:41

Julius Adam stays with 5 syllables. Or Julius/Julian Arthur.
Like Henry too

My DS 2nd and 3rd name is Jules Olivier. Dad is french speaking so the Jules is pronounced the french way. Therefore I would choose Jules Olivier (pronounced Jools) if you are British.

addictedtotheflats · 29/04/2024 13:03

Jules Oliver even

Yes, I had the same thought! Best to give him options and all that. And thank you for saying that about those saying it’s a girls name!! Jules has always been a very common diminutive of Julian (a very masculine name!!) and it’s literally never just been a feminine name! It’s typically not a full name which is why I’m going with Julian but it’s effectively the same as Jo/Joe for Joan or Joseph.

Jules Oliver even

I was thinking this but then someone mentioned Jools Oliver is Jamie Oliver’s wife haha! I quite like Jules Olivier though, and yeah the pronunciation would be Jools.

Hmm I hadn’t thought Julian Michael but now that you’ve said it that is his fathers middle name so it could be very nice actually

I imagine I’m being a little annoying with the back and forth but thinking about it now I’m not sure I want to use Henry because it’s the only other boys name I really like if I were to have another son 😅

Out of your suggestions I think I’m liking Julian Alexander and Julian Michael the best. The only thing is for some reason while I love Alexander it just doesn’t click for me as either a first or middle name :( I’m really not sure why.

Thoughts on Julian Anthony? Jules Anthony? I still really do love Jules Austin but not sure about Julian Austin due to the repeated ending, but then again his full name will rarely ever be said and if I was to be saying it just to him I would probably be saying Jules Austin anyways! Maybe I should post a poll?

Don't like Julian as it always sounds a drippy name, perhaps because I am a generation where every other girl was called Julie Ann.

Julius, jules, fine.

Middle name Verne (on) ?

Me too.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 29/04/2024 21:40

jules Alexander sounds great and I think Jules is nicer than Julian but can see why you want Julian on the birth certificate. Julian Alexander also sounds good.

julian Henry and Julian Michael are also good. I don’t like Julian Austin.

Apollo365 · 30/04/2024 08:27

I’ve never met a Julie Ann - but maybe a regional thing..
Julian Alexander is fabulous 🤩🤩🤩
sounds like a fashion designer or a lawyer.

DuchessOfSausage · 30/04/2024 09:38

@Apollo365 , if you know a Julie it's almost a certainty that her middle name is Anne or Ann.
1960s go to middle names for girls were Anne or Jane, and Julie Jane doesn't flow.

Needanewname42 · 30/04/2024 10:02

Julie Ann was thing up into the mid 70s.

A bit like Mae was a common middle name 10 years ago, Ellie Mae, etc

Thewildthingsarewithme · 30/04/2024 10:06

I have a Jasper and if we have another boy my number one name is Julian, I think they have a similar vibe and are classic without being common but I would choose Robert as the middle name or something like Lawrence or Alexander

DuchessOfSausage · 30/04/2024 10:36

I think Julie is a pretty name but it seems dated.

Agree. I know a Julia which seems much more modern somehow..

DuchessOfSausage · 30/04/2024 18:09

@Apollo365 , Julia seems more of a classic, whereas Julie seems more inspired by Julie Christie or Julie Andrews.

I know a lot of Julies and Julias. They seem quite different names even though they're not.

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/04/2024 18:54

How about Jolyon?

ThisElatedQuail · 30/04/2024 19:39

I really like both Jules Oscar and Julian Oscar

I think that about most e versus a ending names, they are the same apart from the last letter but feel so different
