Cleo and Felix? Or...

Expecting #1, sex is a surprise.

Struggling a bit with names. So far we've talked about Cleo or Beatrix for a girl. Husband also likes Theodora with Theo for short.

For a boy, Felix is one we both quite like. I love Caspar but nephew is Jasper so it's out unfortunately, have considered Cassian too but not sure if it's a bit out there.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I love Clio, quite like Beatrix

Theodore/Theodora/Theo/Thea is being done to death so I’d dodge that - also there are so so many boy Theos it would be odd for a girl right now

Cassian / Cassius quite popular / definitely not out there

Sorry OP but these all sound quite feline to me. On that note, How about Misty? Bella? Tabby? Or Kitty? 🐈

wouldulie2me · 21/04/2024 00:50

All your names sound like you're naming a dog or a cat, sorry.

You are t sorry though are you? You just want to stick the boot in

jsku · 21/04/2024 01:00

I know several cats with the names you mention.

Except for one male Theo, and one female Thea.

Koptforitagain · 21/04/2024 01:04

Cleo ❤️

I’m not keen on Felix or Cassian.

How about Jonah, Luke, Matthew, Jack.

Remaker · 21/04/2024 01:05

Cleo and Felix definitely have cat vibes. Using one would be fine but if you were to have another DC you probably wouldn’t want to use both. So for example if you absolutely adore Felix and want to use it for a DS I’d probably steer clear of Cleo for a DD if there are other names you like just as much. Ditto Beatrix and Felix, possibly too many ‘ix’ sounds in one family. Beatrix and Cassius sound nice. I don’t like Theo for a girl.

cosietea · 21/04/2024 01:18

Cleo is a fish and Felix is a cat

I really like Felix.

Cleo is lovely. Beatrix is quite nice. Not keen on Theodora, but I do like Thea (too many boy Theo’s to use that diminutive)

I really like Felix. Not keen on Cassius personally (a bit fussy, not keen on Cass)

I really like Cleo and Felix.

Beatrix and Cassian are nice. I'm not keen on Theodora and can't see a girl Theo.

Caspian for a boy?

I wouldn't recommend calling a girl Theo.

miniaturepixieonacid · 21/04/2024 18:03

You could use Thea as an alternative. Theodora is said more like Thee - a - dora than Thee- oh - dora anyway so arguably Thea is actually a more accurate diminutive.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 21/04/2024 18:11

Cleo and Felix are cat names. I mean, there is literally a brand of cat food called Felix!

Beatrix is nice.

KirstenBlest · 21/04/2024 18:26

@MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel , there is literally a brand of cat food called Cleo.

TeaAndCake456 · 21/04/2024 22:46

Oh my goodness, are you me?! This is very similar to my list!
I have a Cleo, it's a great name. Not come across another one yet but it's not too unusual.
It does give feline vibes but I've never actually known any cats called Cleo and it didn't bother us. And fwiw, the younger children in my family don't make any link to cats, they just looked puzzled when it was mentioned.

Caspar and Cassian are great too, they were also on our list.
We did like Felix but obviously not with Cleo! 🐱
