Maggie...what would be a good middle name?

I like the name Maggie but can't think of a perfect middle name. Steering clear of Rod Stewart's Maggie May, what would be a good middle name?

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 19:35

hellooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
am not giong to take the huff that you didn't ask me (as the thread name expert!!) BUT need to know - what does surname start with and how many syllables are you looking for?!

Kit
Kate
Rose
Grace
Summer
Isabella
Cecelia
Alexandra
Charlotte

I actually think it would suit a longer name as a mn

do you have any family names you'd like to use?

3andnomore · 30/03/2008 19:42

Is Maggie going to be the "real name" or will it be just the calling name, i.e. Margaret or soemthing like that would be the "real" name.
If it's just Maggie, then I think a 3 syllables 2. name would work the best, like Maggie Isabell
Maggie Beatrice
Maggie Julienne
Maggie Alexa
Maggie Sophia
Maggie Eleanor
Maggie Jaqueline

although a longer 2 syllables name may also sound nice like
Maggie Christin
Maggie Celine

My mum is a Margaret, known as Maggie. She doesn't have a middle name at all.

I think most name lengths/syllabus could work though.

For example,

Margaret Jane
Margaret Louise
Marageret Elisabeth

Think it would need to be quite a traditional name though.

Hulababy · 30/03/2008 19:44

Yes, if just Maggie, probably better for a longer name.

Nbg · 30/03/2008 19:44

The no middle name idea is good for me (I don't have a middle name...well I didn't until I got married) but DH thinks it would be best.

DizzyNameWizard I was saving you for the final selection. This is just preliminary work.

I think, so far, I like:
Maggie Grace
Maggie Beatrice/Beatrix
Maggie Sophia
Maggie Eleanor (MIL's Name)
Maggie Jane

This gives me much more to work with than I had this morning. Now I can approach DH with the name.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Why does everyone always suggest Rose for a middle name? It's nice and everything but if you go back through most of the threads in this section it crops up all the time. Probably because it's short.

jellybeans · 31/03/2008 12:26

Maggie Grace
Maggie Paige
Maggie Nicole
Maggie Hope
Maggie Skye
Maggie Thea
Maggie Niamh
Maggie Elizabeth
Maggie Eleanor
Maggie iMOGen

3andnomore · 31/03/2008 18:44

lol bran...
must admit, all my boys have mn's, but they are all family names...otherwise I don't think we would have bothered at all with middlenames

CountessDracula · 31/03/2008 18:45

if you wanted more than one name you could choose
maggie maggie out out out

artichokes · 31/03/2008 18:47

or the nice traditional "milk snatcher".

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2008 18:47

I think another 2 syllable name with the stress on the second syllable eg Elise, Louise, Justine

not those particular names but I think that stress pattern sounds nicest

devonsmummy · 01/04/2008 16:01

ann

rowingboat · 03/05/2008 23:50

I agree with the two syllable second name, Maggie doodah if you see what I mean.
It might be an idea to have a second name that starts with a consonant, because it would make it easier to say.
Are there any nice family (first) names that you could use?
Does your DH have a middle name in mind?

S1ur · 03/05/2008 23:53

Damn Maggie May would've been good.

okaaay

Margaret Emma
Margaret Sarah
Margaret Emily
Maggie Beatrice

Maggie Emmy
Maggie Milly
Maggie Bea

expatinscotland · 03/05/2008 23:55

Depends on your surname. Anytime the forename and surname begin with a consonant you have to watch for middle names that start with vowels.

We're having this problem just now for a boy's name. If it's a boy it will be Struan, but our surname starts with K so we have to watch what we chose for middle name.

We liked James, but that is unfortunately the name of SIL's shithead abusive ex so it's out.

rowingboat · 04/05/2008 18:21

Maggie Milly is quite cute. Does anyone know what the Tosh is short for?

wessexgirl · 04/05/2008 18:25

I can't believe nobody's said Maggie May!

I think it's cute on its own.

wessexgirl · 04/05/2008 18:25

Gah, just read OP again. Blame the glass of wine while cooking dinner.
