Having a girl in the summer and these are the names me and my husband agree on he is leaning towards Indie and I'm leaning towards Delilah. Thoughts?

I’m not a fan of Esme but also it’s so popular it’s becoming a bit dull.

Love Indie and Delilah, in that order.

oldnorsesaga · 10/04/2024 15:09

I like Delilah the best, but also like Indie (not liking at all India fyi), but Esme is OK as well, just it's kind of trendy name (so is Indie, but I'm liking it more). Esme has pronunciation difference.

itsme189 · 10/04/2024 15:11

Yeah I would not go India or any long form just Indie, yeah this is the same concern I had with esme as I like it pronounced ez-may not ez-me!

Indie is horrible.

India is lovely.

CRE2024 · 10/04/2024 15:16

Love Esme. Not keen on Indie or Delilah.

BathshebaEverdene1 · 10/04/2024 15:21

Delilah reminds me of loud karaoke but then I live in Wales.
Indie isn't a name
Esme= very pretty

MalibuBarbieDreamHouse · 10/04/2024 15:27

Love Indie and Delilah.

Problem with Esme, it’s very popular and some people that use it believe it’s unique. Also not many people realise it can be pronounced different from the way they know. My LO has 2 Esmes in her class, but not the same pronunciation, I spoke to one of the mothers at a party who was quite put out by it.

Favouritefruits · 10/04/2024 15:32

Delilah is far too popular atm, there will be lots of them when she starts school! I like Indie but it reminds me of the alternative dog on Bluey!

Moreteaandchocolate · 10/04/2024 15:33

I love Esme!

I like Indie.

Not at all keen on Delilah (associate 100% with the Tom Jones song). I do love Lilah though, if that’s an option? Or Della is nice?

peaceinourtime · 10/04/2024 15:33

Delilah 100 percent, it’s a beautiful name

Derrymum123 · 10/04/2024 15:54

Delilah is very pretty, Indie is great too. Esmé is too popular in schools.

CRE2024 · 10/04/2024 17:33

Esme is not popular where I am. I think there is only 1 in my childs primary and none in my child's high school and professionally I have never worked with an Esme. In fairness, I have also never worked with an Indie or a Delilah. I do know one Indie though. I just can't bring myself to like Delilah. But these threads are a bit daft. Names are so subjective. You're never going to get consensus. Maybe wait until you see her and get a feel for which one suits her best. It doesn't really matter if other children in the world have the same name.

KirstenBlest · 10/04/2024 19:46

Esme is OK. I don't like the other two.

theduchessofspork · 11/04/2024 00:30

I guess Esme - it’s nice enough

Indie is trying hard to be cool and falling on its arse

Delilah reminds me of the song and is a bit daft

theduchessofspork · 11/04/2024 00:32

DrJoanAllenby · 10/04/2024 15:13

Indie is horrible.

India is lovely.

India is too last days of the Raj, unless you actually have Indian heritage

PennyPickles60 · 11/04/2024 00:33

Delilah definitely.

TooraLoora · 11/04/2024 02:46

I named my dog Indie

FangsForTheMemory · 11/04/2024 06:54

Delilah, or Esme. Indie isn’t a name.

shoopshoopdedoo · 11/04/2024 20:36

Esme is lovely.
Delilalh is OK.
Personally, I don’t like Indie.

Hollyhead · 11/04/2024 20:39

Esme is lovely name, and I like Delilah too.

Indie just makes me think of awesome 90s music in smoky bars, cheap beer and sticky floors.

Mardyybum · 11/04/2024 20:43

Indie is a really popular name where I am.
I love Delilah - I wanted to name my daughter this but DH friend has a Lyla and we agreed it was too similar!

CRE2024 · 11/04/2024 23:52

@Mardyybum where are you? The only Indie I know has an Australian parent?

mollyminniemo · 12/04/2024 08:37

Indie is SO ANNOYING!!! It is only used by certain types of people so desperate to be in/seem a bit alternative/boho (when they really are not) but it's one of those tacky wannabe trendy names that will date so quickly. It is now graceful or feminine, just awful. Please don't. I prefer Delilah the most then Esme otherwise.

Jessicalili · 12/04/2024 09:14

I was going to use the name Delilah! 🥰
