I'm really struggling to pick a name for DD2. We have 1 daughter already named Leila. Our shortlist so far is:

Emily
Esmé
Juniper (June)
Elinor (Nora)
Sabrina

Please help me chose, or think of another name, all of these are compromise suggestions, we have very different taste!

Emily or Esme.

ohthejoys21 · 09/04/2024 12:35

Have to say love Sabrina.

ohthejoys21 · 09/04/2024 12:36

So many Emily's. Sienna?

Moreteaandchocolate · 09/04/2024 12:52

I love Leila!

Esmé is my favourite and sounds perfect with Leila imo!
I also like Elinor (Nora) and Emily.
Not so keen on Juniper (prefer just June / Juno) or Sabrina (no obvious / nice short versions and teenage witch association)

Ideas

Annie / Anna
Priya
Clara
Mabel
Georgia
Iris
Chloe
Rosie
Ivy
Alice
Freya
Erin
Phoebe
Eliza
Ruby
Maya
Eva
Thea
Amber
Holly
Seren

Sabrina. Underused and spunky but with a softness to it.

EricHebbornInItaly · 09/04/2024 13:20

Sabrina, a feminine name but with strength behind it, love it

I’d be always thinking it Sabrina the teenage witch 😂. Probs showing my age there tho, kids won’t have heard of it!

shoopshoopdedoo · 09/04/2024 13:24

Love Leila and like all of your choices apart from Juniper. Favourites are Emily and Nora

Emily - safe, classic
Esmé - goes best with Leila. Spelling and pronunciation issues. A bit trendy
Juniper (June) - June nn Juniper is better. Juniper sounds like a pet rabbit's name
Elinor (Nora) - one or the other.not both. Will get Eleanor a lot
Sabrina - fine but quite a strong name

Which goes best with the surname?

PurpleBettina · 09/04/2024 14:50

Thanks for help - I like some of the suggestions above, but a lot we've ruled out already because of other family names or associations.

Esme is probably my favourite of ours, but rhymes with our surname, which makes me hesitate.

I don't really mind about misspelling or mispronouncement of the names, it happens all the time with leila and isn't really a big deal.

I like Anna, Rose, Nina, Alice and Clara, but all are close to family names.

Awww love Clara but I hear you

Geebray · 09/04/2024 14:58

Esme is like Chloe was, these days - very popular.

Littlepicklepie · 09/04/2024 15:00

If Esme rhymes I'd avoid it. Unless Esme (no accent so ez-mee) is better?

Summer

Indi Blu
Tiger

Why do you suggest these names on every thread? Hmm

I don’t like Esme at all. Emily is a bit dull. Sabrina is nice.
