I think Lia is lovely, Myla is pretty too but I know an awful lot of Miya, Marley, Maya, Mylie, Mia and similar names often multiples in the same classroom. I don't have the same with Lia.
Leah would be my automatic assumption on hearing it but I think Lia is a perfectly lovely spelling too.

Is Lia said the same as Leah? It's an okay name but it just looks like Liar.

I prefer Myla, I think it's pretty.

sarahsunny · 25/03/2024 12:50

I think Lia would be traditionally spelled as Leah. It's one of my favourite names - really beautiful but also strong and classic 😊

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/03/2024 12:51

Love both! I love how short, simple they are, and they’re pretty for all ages. Not overused either.

Aren't spelling "rules" strange someone commented that Lia looks like Liar and not the i assume intended Lee-ah. However no ever says Mia looks like My-er, and if Mia was spelled Meah people would probably find that odd.

I love lia. I'm not too keen on Myla. Thats just a personal opinion though

Other ideas.
Thea. Rosa. Nina. Lucy. Cleo. Anya. Anna. Lily

FayCarew · 25/03/2024 14:24

Leah is better than Lia. Lia might get said as Lie-a
Myla is a bit too Maya, Maia, Mia, Lila, Lyla, Lyra

FayCarew · 25/03/2024 14:37

@Awwlookatmybabyspider , some called Mia say it as My-a.
Leah is a name from the Bible. Mia's a modern name probably from Maria, so spelling it as Meah would be unusual.

I've heard Nia said as Ny-a.

Lia
Myla

I don't think Myla pronunciation is completely clear. You could still have people pronouncing it Mee-la.

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/03/2024 14:59

Lia isn't to my taste as I prefer a longer name but it is pretty and shouldn't present pronunciation problems. I think of Lia Williams who is the only one that I am aware of. It's similar to the Welsh name Nia .

I don’t think anyone would read Lia as Liar. It is clearly Lia like Mia.

marshmallowfinder · 25/03/2024 18:05

Lia just reminds me of 'leer' which is a really ugly word. Myla is OK but pretty boring to me. But what do I know?!

NewName24 · 25/03/2024 18:25

Are you saying it like liar ? - in which case no, for obvious reasons.

Or Leah, in which case spell it Leah to save her having to correct it the rest of her life.

DontGiveADuck · 25/03/2024 18:26

I really like Lia. I presume it’s the same as Leah? The Lia I knew pronounced it the same.

Myla is such a nothingy name. It just seems faddy.

FangsForTheMemory · 25/03/2024 21:10

Mirella or Mireille instead of Myla?

Lilia instead of Lia.

whiskeycats · 30/03/2024 12:57

Don't like Lia or Leah either for that matter.
