Ever - Baby girl name?

Hey all,

Is Ever a name that I could use for a baby girl?

I want to use the name Eva to be honest but with the German accent, so "Eh-Va" , not "EE - Va" which is the english version.

Hence I thought of Ever? Could it be a name?

How "Eh-Va" can be written to make a name with this sound?

Opinions please :)

Ehva

idontlikealdi · 19/03/2024 11:02

No.

oldnorsesaga · 19/03/2024 11:02

Just use Eva and pronounce it differently. Changing the spelling usually doesn't solve anything.

Saisong · 19/03/2024 11:02

Ava might be closer in pronouciation, A-vah

qotsa · 19/03/2024 11:03

Or two v's?

HoldingOnForAHeron · 19/03/2024 11:03

Is your surname Green?
Use the spelling Ewa - it's a Polish name said as Evva.

tealandteal · 19/03/2024 11:04

Everly?

Elephantsareace · 19/03/2024 11:04

Ever isn't a name and it won't be pronounced how you want by anyone with an accent with a rhotic r.

KingNidge · 19/03/2024 11:04

Only with the full name being Everhard (and it's for a boy). Ever sounds like you can't pronounce Heather.

Newsenmum · 19/03/2024 11:04

FWIW I knew a polish eva and we just pronounced it like she told us.

Newsenmum · 19/03/2024 11:05

Actually no I remember now! She spelt it Ewa

Partridgewell · 19/03/2024 11:05

I taught a girl called Ever once, I thought it was a lovely name.

portocristo · 19/03/2024 11:06

I was watching the housewives of orange County and one of the children was called Everleigh which I thought was really nice.

stickygotstuck · 19/03/2024 11:07

Name her Eva and pronounce it how you like it. People who know her will quickly get used to it. People who don't, don't matter.

Eva is a beautiful name, however you pronounce it and wherever you are from. By changing the spelling, it loses its meaning (in this case, it also has the effect to turning it into a word that already exists and is totally unrelated. So no, I would not do it).

Jellybott · 19/03/2024 11:32

Efa is a Welsh girl's name pronounced that way

SkaneTos · 19/03/2024 11:37

I agree with @oldnorsesaga and @stickygotstuck .

Soubriquet · 19/03/2024 11:40

I like the name Ever. Mila Jovovichs daughter is called Ever Anderson.

However you can spell it Eva and correct the pronunciation. Suppose you could even spell it Eeva

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/03/2024 13:01

I agree with pp - spell it Eva and correct people. Ever doesn’t really work as a spelling imo because it’s a real word that isn’t usually used as a name, so it seems wrong somehow. Just my personal opinion of course :)

LittleMissSleepyUK · 19/03/2024 13:08

I know an Ewa which is pronounced Ever

Topseyt123 · 19/03/2024 13:17

No. I'd think it should be Eva.

Even after all of your attempts to explain, I still can't see the problem with Eva.

If you spell it Ever then you and your DD will be constantly having to explain it and correct people.

LlynTegid · 19/03/2024 13:18

No, not a loving thing to do. Think of all the cruel comments that will happen.

Nannyfannybanny · 19/03/2024 13:20

Is your surname "Ready"!!!

peaceinourtime · 19/03/2024 14:41

I’ve heard of a Everly as a girls name. It is alright I suppose.

Sandysandwich · 19/03/2024 14:57

I knew a baby called Evelyn, pronounced Ever-lin and they all called her Ever. It was sweet

HighLlamas · 19/03/2024 14:59

Elephantsareace · 19/03/2024 11:04

Ever isn't a name and it won't be pronounced how you want by anyone with an accent with a rhotic r.

Exactly. ‘Ever’ isn’t a homonym for ‘Eva’ or ‘Evva’ in my accent.
