What is your honest opinion on the name Alasia? Pronounced uh-lay-zhuh. Does it sound too made up? I also love Ariella, Aurora, Areilia.

My first thought is it's the end of Australasia.

Vinniepolis · 12/02/2024 19:42

It sounds like a skin condition, sorry.

JLT24 · 12/02/2024 19:51

Sorry but my first thought was it sounds like Australasia. Aurelia is really pretty and most people know how to spell that so they won’t have to keep spelling it out for the rest of their life which can get annoying!

Onelife2024 · 12/02/2024 19:52

Sorry, I’m not keen on Alasia - it sounds too much like a continent or as pp said, some kind of health condition.

Ariella sounds like areola. Areilla is a bit better but you’d have so many pronunciation and spelling issue I think. Aurora is too princess.

Aurelia is the best by far.

KnickerlessParsons · 12/02/2024 19:55

People (me) would pronounce it
A-lass-ee-a

mnlkjpo24 · 12/02/2024 20:04

It sounds rather made-up IMHO and I think would often get mispronounced and misspelt which isn't fun for any child or adult.

MaloneMeadow · 12/02/2024 20:07

Too made up. How about Alessia?

GreenCereal · 12/02/2024 20:09

Sounds like a made-up airline.

TwelveKeys · 12/02/2024 20:09

It's too close to aplasia, not nice for a name.

NachosAndCheese · 12/02/2024 21:49

Sounds like Malaysia. And made up.

ScierraDoll · 12/02/2024 21:54

It sounds made up.
The others don't sound like people's names

DesertSnow · 12/02/2024 23:36

Alessia?

Bringtheweatherwithyou · 12/02/2024 23:52

It sounds like someone is having difficulty saying Eliza.

Go for Alexa, don’t like the Amazon Alexa put you off. It’s a lovely name.

I think Alexa is a lovely name too but in my opinion using it would just be cruel, which is a shame. Who wants an Amazon Alexa to trigger every time they say their child’s name?

user1492757084 · 19/02/2024 14:04

I thought of Alasia in Australasia too! Don't use it.

Ariella is my fave from your list.

I met person with a new name recently..
Ellazae spoken like the French Alize.
Do you like Alize, Alessia, Alice, Adele or Acacia?

IslayAnn · 19/02/2024 14:37

I'm not keen tbh, also as someone with a difficult name to spell/pronounce just don't do it to the kid!

Blanketbaby7 · 19/02/2024 14:43

Really dislike these. There's kids called these names in my kids classes and I just can't remember them or spell them. I just say "hi". Know the parents names though as they're normal. One sounds like the outer part of a nipple to me and I think it whenever I see the kids (as can't remember which one is called it).

kiawithkia · 23/12/2024 07:00

how cute a name is "Sienna" for your little princess😇
