2. Summer

Struggling with middle name for Summer, as Summer Matilda seems a bit clunky. Any ideas for a middle name for Summer welcome, preferably something Spanish/Greek.

I don't think it's strange. Usher Raymond IV the R&B singer goes by his first and middle name. It's up to you what you feel is best for your child to be known as.

Matilda Summer is the best one. Summer is not to my taste at all.

I know quite a few who go by the first and middle name, but the names tend to be Sarah Jane or David John type names, not Summer Matilda, which is much longer.

Sophia Matilda is lovely (I don't like the Sofia spelling).

Just wanted to say I have a Summer Olivia and it suits her beautifully and we have never looked back. I think all of these suggestions are really pretty as well. I think Sofia is a stunning name, we also liked it a lot, but I have since met an awful lot of little Sofia's/Sophia's so I'm glad we went with Summer. Good luck!

I thought he went by Usher. His father was Usher Raymond III.

You can't compare stage names or pen names to real names because they are often used because someone else already has the name.
(e.g David Tennant was born David McDonald, Reese Witherspoon are her last two names, Joseph Conrad used the anglicised versions of his first and third names)

Nealy all of them have 2-syllable 1-syllable forms.
I also know a few who go by Sarah Lou/David Tom short for Sarah Louise/David Thomas type of names

It's probably why most of the middle name threads suggest a whole pile of 1-syllable names.

I prefer a shorter first name, longer middle name combo because I find the Lily Rose, Ellie May, Arlo James, Noah Jay type names a bit too twee.

Isn't there a pretty Spanish name you could use?
Something like Cruz or Ines.
